Just got the BG-E7 grip for the 7D today. Going to try using the L plate for the 30D with grip do see if it works at all. I just really need to figure out how to make this more comfortable to hold. The E1 handstrap will only help for landscape shooting. Any ideas how to make it more comfortable for portrait shots?

Never could figure that out, I had to loosening the strap to allow more movement to even try.

Miz - what specifically do you want to see? There are plenty of pics on the net. Look here:
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/....php?p=8622218
There are images on pages 4 & 5, maybe more. If there is something specific you are looking for let me know and I'll try and post.
srika - it's just that it is heavy and bulky, so I want something to add stability and support. I have the handstrap and heard it is a great help when using the grip, but it only works in landscape. The ergonomics of the grip in portrait are fine, but it's still awkward because of the bulk/weight and my not-so-large hands.

I really hope I find a way to make it easier to use. I would feel pretty stupid if I didn't use it after going through the same thing with the 30D and BG-E2.

That being said, I read the reviews on the 7D grip. It's actually pretty stable. With the xxD cameras there is some wobble and over tightening might strip the gears.
On the 7D, I've read that it feels more solid, more like 1 piece.
Any comments moe?

Well I'm not asking for it to be the same, but similar.
I do like how the d300/700 can use the same battery as the D3
