If you don't have any Rokinon lenses...I highly recommend them. 85 1.4 here.

No bad, I hate that most carnivals/fairs have changed to LED lighting, it screws up what I have been use to seeing/doing in years past.

If you look at this set on my flickr, you'll see cool patterns because this was done before the switch to LEDs. I went to this same fair two years ago and I hate the images from it.

tis a shame about the LED's, I hope some carnivals still use old lights because it's always been a "bucket list" item for me, I just never got around to doing it.

That being said, the light effect in Austin's shot has a sort of "clinical", digital look, which is pleasing in a different way.

You can get some cool images still, but most Ferris wheels now use programmable leds lights, (for patterns and color changes)as you see in the image he shared.

I honestly didn't even notice the switch to LEDs, it's been a few years since I've been I think.

Thanks for the feedback, guys, I think I have maybe 2 more I can post but that's about it. Wasn't really happy with the outcome.

Thanks! Depends on the fox, some are more curious then others. Usually around 3-5 foxes by the front gate. I would suggest going with two camera, one for close range and other for reach. Where in NJ are you from?

I've never been to that park itself. I assume there is a gate at the far north end?

I'm down in South Jersey....Gloucester county.

I don't have a long lens right now anyway. The longest lens I have is a 70-200. Can't decide what to get...every time I think I have an idea, I find out that the lens is out of stock or something.

70-200 works, you just have to be a little patient. They sometimes come within feet from you. You can use extender either 1.4 or 2x while you're hunting for new glass. What are you looking at?

Wow! I wonder if people are feeding them and that's why they come so close?

I'm looking at either one of these:

Tamron 150-600

Sigma 150-600 Sport - But not in stock anywhere. Lens Rentaals have them as being available for Nikon on 2/19. Canon will be sooner.

Or

the Sigma 120-300 2.8 Sport with a 2x TC. This is WAY more expensive though. And I've heard some mixed reports about getting good results with the TCs.

The foxes hang around the side of the roads because fishermen feed them, when their done fishing. Also visitors feed them time to time which is not allowed.

I have a few friends who owned the Tamron 150-600. For the money its best bang lens, you get reach for fraction of a price of a prime. I haven't been keeping up with gear, but Sigma been putting out lots of great lenses recently. I tried Sigma 150-300 2.8 at the store and its a sharp lens. And a lot cheaper then prime 300 2.8. I never tried sigma convertors, but Canon convertors works really well. I use mine 1.4x a lot. If you planning on going to IBSP soon, let me know.

Cool! Will do!

I'd love to get the 120-300 2.8, but if it didn't work well with a 2x I'd be S.O.L. Don't know if I can risk that.

The Tammy is a pretty safe bet I think and the are available most places.

I think it came out well!

What aperture were you shooting at there? Or was your chest blurred in post?

slickooz, I REALLY like the self portrait!

My only thought is that I wish there was just a HINT of definition in your jawline on your right side (camera-left). The deep blacks there leave me wanting a tiny bit more definition of your face, like you have on the left side of your face. Probably could be solved with a reflector card to put a smidge of light on that side of your face.

Thanks! Trying different things in CS6 for toning.
I was using Sigma 35mm, shot @ 1.4. I was maybe 6 inches away from the lens.

I think I went a little over board on the burning. I will probably go back and lessen it. You're right, the right side of my jaw is blending too much with hoodie.
