i'm still curious to read a comprehensive review of the event from MrJumbo while it's still fresh in his mind, and let's all give Justin a little break now. it would definitely help to get more first-hand views of the cars.

Justin: go home, relax, enjoy your day. Everyone here is just sooo exited, and I'm sure I can apologize on behalf of everyone. Your work is always appreciated!

Yes you're right. I look upon software engineers as a product of the electrical engineering curriculum. The college courses that they take are pretty much the same as their EE bretheren. That's because computer design and application are so closely tied together.

Some barely connected ramblings...

I'm looking at the wallpaper from acura.com with the black TL on the beach. I really didn't feel the style of the new car until I got that. I was giving a Powerpoint presentation using my laptop and got compliments on it....I just said, "it might be my next car".

Anyhoo, I digress...I second the recommendation that MrJumbo give his views on the new car.

I'm still trying to pitch it to my wife....any ideas on how to do that? ("But honey, it has dual climate controls! Now you don't have to burn me when you feel cold!")

not only does it have dual climate but dual zone i.e. wife can have heat blowing on her feet while you have cool air through vents.

Yes. Say "I'm buying this car. If you say no I'll divorce you. It's either the car or our marriage."

End of story.

Was the Previous TL or current Accord or TSX not able to do that?

Just wondering because people have been saying this new dual climate is better..

Also this thing senses which way the SUN IS!

The TSX lets you control temperature seperately but not mode. And it has a sun direction sensor. And yes the sound system trumps a Lexus.

The TSX has the sun direction sensor, or did u mean to say yes the 04TL has it..

What u mean, so on the TSX if you want the passenger to be 65 degrees and the driver to be 100, u cant do that?

For the people that went to R/D, does the car have AUTO UP/DOWN on all 4 windows?

And what does the new remote help do, like what type of settings per driver can it memorize?

Also is the remote slim Like I saw on one of the interior pics?

HUge front overhang, looks more so than the last model. Looks uglier than the TSX. The TSX ain't ugly. Then again, I think the G35 sedan is ugly as hell. And the ES 330.

Looks like a Dodge Stratus, the new TL does.

Pricing

It has probably already been stated previously, but when do we expect pricing to be officially announced from Acura/Honda?

Auto up and down on two front windows only. Auto Open & Close moonroof.

The remote is the same remote as the one Acura has been using for years. The key is the same as TSX.

Using the Multi-Info Display Screen in the dash, The Keyless memory link includes these functions:
-Drivers Seat Position
-Outside Mirrors
-Last Climate Control Setting
-Auto door lock/unlock
-Keyless Lock acknowledgement
-Security relock timer
-Headlight auto off timer
-Interior dome light dimming timer

are the outside mirrors heated?
Are the high/low beam projected from the same light element? (i.e. the projector lense)

I can't take anymore TL rumours and speculation. I'm just waiting for the day my car arrives.

I would like to know official pricing, however. I at least know that it's under what I expected to pay for it. I'd also like to know how much for the Acura OEM performance springs.

Aside from that, I'm cool!

I still think they should have put auto-leveling headlights on....one of these days I'm gonna get pulled over cuz a cop thinks I have my brights on....almost happened to me already one time. I also have a feeling that NHTSA is going to mandate auto-level and headlight washers soon, much like the Euros.

Bummer. I was just watching Motor Trend television and they showed the new Kia something or other and it had auto up/down on all four windows.

Still happy to have the two. Push both auto buttons, then hold the back ones.

At the R&D, did anyone confirm the rear windows still go all the way down?

Justin, my final question. Actually, this might be my first question. Did you notice any torque steer on 6MT or 5AT?

Torque steer? You need torque to have torque steer Kidding. No, there were no torque steer in either the AT or MT. Nothing like the Nissans. The AT when in manual shift will shift you from 1st to 2nd gear on its own...unlike the TSX. The MT is a rocket...offfically I know they are saying 270hp so I have to stay with the company line but my guess is when its dyno it will show more hp and torque then what is listed.

What is the one complain with the TSX? Power. The TL answers that complain in spades. The 04TL has very little similiarites with how the 03TL drives. I guess if we look at the 03TL as a ship...then its a Cruise ship where the 04 is a US Destroyer. The 03 you get in and just want to get to point B the fastest way possible. The 04 you get in and want to take the byways instead of the freeways.

Think of the TSX with a V6 and 270hp...thats your TL. Even the drs close with the same sound. The TSX is the clean cut brother where the TL is your rebel.

Justin, how does the larger size of the TL affect the sporty feel of the car vs. the TSX?

Did you read where the TL takes Premium Gas and at 180+ a gallon, thats going to hurt a little! Im guessing it will run fine on regular but wont get the extra performance the Prem. will give you!

Im not sure if the earlier TL's took premium or not?? Since I never had one.

Yes the TL is larger than the TSX but not by much. When you see the TL in person the car looks small. The TL is sporty...you sense it as soon as you sit in the drivers seat. You hear it when you start the engine and you know it when you drive the car. There is nothing not to like about the TSX, it's just the TL takes it to the next level.

TSX vs 04TL
length 183.3 vs 186.2
height 57.3 vs 56.7
width 69.4 vs 72.2
curb weight MT 3230 vs 3465

$1.80 a gallon would be nice! A couple of days ago when I filled up it was about $2.35 a gallon for premium.

Interesting to see that the TSX is actually taller. There's no doubt the TL will smoke the TSX in a straight line, but I doubt it will in handling. If it does...then I will really wonder why we dont have the accord v6 in the TSX ... since the excuse has always been the bigger 6 will ruin its handling.

The 99-03 TL's take Premium fuel.

The MD-X does as well, although I began using 89 Octane after the first 7500 miles and it worked out fine. Sure, there's a minimal performance hit, but you can always buy Premium (or Sunoco Ultra) when you're in performance mode !
