I said somewhat decent examples. Which has higher miles and more wear / tear. What you have shared is an exceptional example. Also buying from Porsche pre-owned will have an additional premium.

Incredible what such an unassuming car with a piddly 4.0L normally aspirated engine can do as compared to all the larger block, some turbo or super charged, can do. I would hope to see some challenges, but of course on equal grounds.

Can't swing a GT3 but want a boy-racer kinda 911? The new 911T will be offered in the Spring. I always said if I could have a base Carrera with a 7 speed I'd buy it, that's essentially what the T is with some go fast bits on it.

Porsche is adding to the 911 family with the lightweight sports car, the 911 Carrera T. The letter "T" stands for touring and describes models that offer a purist driving experience with exceptionally sporty equipment. The standard 911 T features a seven-speed manual gearbox. An eight-speed PDK is also available. The rear seats are omitted. Featuring a PASM sports suspension with 10-mm-lowering and reduced insulation, the new 911 Carrera T is the epitome of purism and exhilarating driving pleasure. You can feel it on winding mountain and country roads - and you can hear it too. The sound of the six-cylinder boxer engine is now an even more striking presence in the interior.

Standard with PASM sports suspension and Sport Chrono package

The new 911 Carrera T slots in between the 911 Carrera and the 911 Carrera S. The Porsche 911 Carrera T takes its biturbo engine with 283 kW (385 PS) and 450 Newton metres of torque, and which accelerates the sports car from zero to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and to a top speed of 291 km/h, from the entry-level 911. The standard equipment from the Carrera S with a manual transmission is augmented by Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with a mechanical rear differential lock. The 911 Carrera T also comes standard with the Sport Chrono package and the PASM sports suspension (-10 mm) - features that only the Carrera T offers in combination with the 385-PS engine. This is available as an option in the 911 Carrera S. On request, the Carrera T can also be ordered with the optional rear-axle steering, which is also normally reserved for models from the Carrera S and up.

T-specific equipment features include 20- and 21-inch Titanium Grey Carrera S wheels in front and back, respectively, with 245/35 (front) and 305/30 (rear) sized tyres. The 911 Carrera T also comes standard with the GT sports steering wheel, sports exhaust system and Sports Seats Plus (four-way, electric). Weighing just 1,470 kg, the 911 Carrera T with a manual transmission is the lightest series 911 with the entry-level engine, coming in 35 kg lighter than the 911 Carrera with a standard eight-speed PDK. In the 911 Carrera, the manual transmission is no longer available. Beyond the omitted back seats and reduced insulation, lightweight glass and a lightweight battery shave off even more weight.

Touring car concept successful across several model lines

The "T" in the model designation of the Porsche 911 Carrera T stands for touring and traces its history back to the homologation of the 911 T as a touring car in 1968. This first 911 T was offered until 1973, and in 2017 Porsche revived the purist 911 variant with the 911 Carrera T of the 991 generation. Since then, the concept of the stripped-down, yet exceptionally sporty setup has been successfully brought to other model lines with the 718 Cayman T, the 718 Boxster T and the Macan T.

Exclusive details inside and out

On the exterior, the Porsche 911 Carrera T stands out from the rest of the model line with Dark Grey accentuating details. Contrasting elements such as the top and bottom trim on the exterior mirrors, the new door logos and the rear logos, and the trim strips on the rear lid grille feature Agate Grey. The windscreen also features a grey top tint. The tailpipes of the sports exhaust system are in high-gloss black. It all gives the new 911 Carrera T an even more extroverted and dynamic look.

The car's sportiness is underscored in the interior by the standard four-way Sports Seats Plus. Decorative trim in matte black and decorative inlays in high-gloss black round off the T interior. Customers seeking even more distinctiveness can choose the optional Carrera T interior package. In this case, they receive additional safety belts in the contrasting colours Slate Grey or Lizard Green. The same goes for the decorative stitching, the 911 logo embossed in the headrests and the stripes down the seat centres. The floor mats also offer the logo and stitching in the contrasting colours of Lizard Green and Slate Grey as an option.

Small but exquisite selection of options and colours

The Porsche 911 Carrera T offers optional Adaptive Sports Seats Plus (18-way, electric) as well as the even sportier and exceptionally lightweight full bucket seats featuring Race Tex seat centres. The Carrera T interior package is offered with an optional extended leather interior. The armrests on the door panels and centre console are also in leather, along with the upper parts of the dashboard and door panel trim.

The new 911 Carrera T is available in the four solid colours Black, White, Guards Red and Racing Yellow as well as in the four metallic finishes Deep Black, Gentian Blue, Ice Grey and GT Silver. Available special colours are Chalk, Ruby Star Neo, Carmine Red, Shark Blue and Python Green. Buyers of the 911 Carrera T also have the option of using the Paint to Sample programme, which offers paintwork in over 110 available colour tones.

The Porsche 911 Carrera T will go out to dealers in February 2023 and can be ordered now. The price in Germany starts at €123,845 including VAT and country-specific equipment.

I do not know why Motor Trend or anyone would call it a Purist' Porsche.

A Purist' Porsche would have an engine that is normally aspirated and have real dials in the instrument panels, not some flat panel screens. And at 3254 pounds, hell that is heavier than my 2015 Carrera 4 GTS at 3237 accoring to the Porsche brochure. And what happened to window cranks?

Now if you want a Purist' Porsche, you want a 1973 2.7L Carrera RS. Or one of these..."An Early 911" on YouTube. The video is available. You gotta love the ending "An Early 911 - 100% Nanny Free". At least a lot closer to my 993 than my 991.1.

But you gotta love car magazines, sort of like the news with fancy terminology like "Breaking News". It is called news, nothing else. LOL

Got in touch with my SA and told him I wanted to order a T instead of the S I've had on order since 8/21. I'm the first one on the list and am waiting for confirmation of same. This car is 3 tenths slower to 60 than an S with 68 less HP, I can definitely live with that. My configuration has the Burmester stereo in it (temporarily) only because I've heard lousy things about the base system and the Bose is not available widely so taken off the Base and the T by Porsche for now. I love the look of the SportDesign Package so may sub that in place of the Burmester. All over right now bc I don't have to commit without an allocation.

Was happy with the Burrmester in my Mercedes C & the one in my grandmother's S was even better.
Minimally slower in a straight line & easier on the pocketbook, sounds like a win to me.

I just switched my order to the T as well. Unfortunately, my dealership is telling me by the time my allocation comes around in 18-24 months, it's very possible it'll need to be converted to a 992.2, for better or for worse.

Congrats guys!

And it's only 3200 lbs, wow, in a world where EVERYTHING seems to be getting begrudgingly bloated, this is such a welcome thing!

Is this your first Porsche?

BTW, how does the T price out with respect to other 911s, comparing base prices?

yes, my first P car and it's 10K more than a Carrera, ~$7K less than an S and a lot more rare.

Previously referred to as the Safari, Porsche's adventurous 911 will officially carry the "Dakar" suffix as a nod to the company's 1984 triumph at the grueling Paris-Dakar rally. The 953 driven by René Metge and Dominique Lemoyne was the first 911 to feature all-wheel drive, a year before the 959 came out. AWD will obviously be standard on the new 992 derivative. The world premiere is set for November 16 at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Porsche doesn't go into details about the car's technical specifications, but it does say prototypes of the 911 Dakar have racked up more than 500,000 kilometers (310,685 miles). Over 10,000 km (6,213 miles) were done in various off-road environments. Test vehicles were put through their paces at the Château de Lastours test track in southern France as well as in Arjeplog at the testing grounds. Rally icon and Porsche ambassador Walter Röhrl joined the engineers and test drivers on the frozen lakes of Sweden.

The high-riding 911 was also taken to Dubai and Morocco where it had to endure temperatures of up to 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit) and climb dunes as tall as 50 meters (164 feet). We're being told the new Dakar version has bespoke off-road tires and a recalibrated ABS system to improve braking on gravel. It's not as hardcore as the prototypes that climbed the world's tallest volcano courtesy of portal axles and chunky rubber.

Dakar is not the only new member of the ever-growing 911 family because Porsche is also working on a first-ever hybrid, a non-PHEV model spies have spotted testing on numerous occasions. A fully electric 911 will have to wait as the peeps from Zuffenhausen have said it won't come out before 2030.

Speaking of sporty vehicles on stilts from the Volkswagen Group, Lamborghini will soon unveil the Hurracan Sterrato as a naturally aspirated V10 supercar with all-wheel drive and a suspension lift. It'll be the last pure ICE model from the Sant'Agata Bolognese automaker.

Love the way the sand is swirling out of the wheels, gotta be hell on the components though. I saw an article this morning that said Walter Rohrl spent a lot of time developing this car and that he couldn't believe it still felt like a 911 when it was on dry pavement with off-road tires.

Almost makes them look like the airless tires, in the rear. I actually had to look twice to be sure it was just how the sand was being thrown.

I sort of agree. The same goes with a Macan, Cayenne, Panamera or Taycan. I have driven two of them and have been in three. Very nice, but when it comes to long term ownership for us poor guys that keep cars 14+ years, I wanted reliability and low cost of ownership in a daily driver. The Macan that I test drove was nice, but I bought an Acura. And if I am buying a Porsche, I am buying a sports car, not a grocery getter.

Porsche is celebrating an extraordinary world premiere at the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show: the new Porsche 911 Dakar is just as comfortable off-road as it is on the highway. Limited to just 2,500 examples, this exclusive model doesn't just demonstrate the all-but-limitless possibilities of the Porsche 911 concept: it also evokes the first overall victory by Porsche in the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rallye. This momentous win also marked the birth of all-wheel drive in the Porsche 911. This is why the new 911 Dakar is also offered with an optional Rallye Design Package, reminiscent of that iconic winning car.

The first striking detail of the Porsche 911 Dakar is its ground clearance, which is 50 millimetres higher than that of a 911 Carrera with sports suspension. And the standard lift system can raise the front and rear ends an additional 30 millimetres. Its ground clearance and ramp angle rival those of conventional SUVs. The lift system is not only used to slowly cross obstacles, but is an integral part of the retuned chassis. The 'high level' setting is available for ambitious off-road adventures at speeds of up to 170 km/h. Above that speed, the car automatically lowers back down to its normal level.

Complementing the car's sporty off-road attributes are specially developed Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tyres (sized 245/45 ZR 19 at the front and 295/40 ZR 20 at the rear). The chunky tread pattern is nine millimetres deep and the reinforced sidewalls and the threads consist of two carcass plies. All this makes the tyres of the Porsche 911 Dakar ideal even for challenging terrain and they are highly cut-resistant. Pirelli P Zero summer and winter tyres are available as an option, also with two carcass plies. But the all-terrain tyres come as standard and offer sports car dynamics on the road as well.

Commanding power on all surfaces

The three-litre biturbo six-cylinder with 480 PS (353 kW) and a maximum torque of 570 Newton metres delivers superior performance with a compelling boxer sound. The new sports car sprints to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds; due to the all-terrain tyres the top speed is limited to 240 km/h.

As standard, the engine comes with an eight-speed PDK and Porsche all-wheel drive. The standard equipment also includes rear-axle steering, the engine mounts from the 911 GT3, and PDCC anti-roll stabilisation. The interplay of all the components results in the 911 Dakar being just as dynamic on sand and loose surfaces as it is on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Maximum off-road performance is also ensured by two new driving modes, which can be selected using the rotary switch on the steering wheel. Rallye mode is ideal for loose, uneven surfaces and features rear-focused all-wheel drive. In off-road mode the high clearance is activated automatically. This mode is designed for maximum traction on difficult terrain and on sand. Both of the new driving modes also feature the new Rallye Launch Control, which enables impressive acceleration on loose surfaces and allows wheel slippage of around 20 per cent.

Optionally with roof basket or roof tent as well as Porsche Design chronograph

Additional characteristic features of the Porsche 911 Dakar include the newly developed, fixed lightweight rear spoiler made of CFRP and the CFRP front luggage compartment lid with striking air outlets taken from the 911 GT3. There are also standard off-road details such as the red aluminium towing lugs at the front and back, the widened wheel wells and sills and the stainless steel protective elements on the front, rear and side sills. The side air intakes on the redesigned front end are also protected against flying rocks by stainless steel grilles.

The roof of the Porsche 911 Dakar features a visible 12-volt power outlet for the headlights of the optional roof rack. With a capacity of 42 kilograms, the rack can accommodate rallying equipment such as fuel and water canisters, folding shovels and traction boards without any problems. A roof tent is also available for the 911 Dakar.

In the interior, the 911 Dakar underscores its sporting ambitions with standard full bucket seats and the omission of the rear seats. Lightweight glass and a lightweight battery reduce its weight further, enabling the Porsche 911 Dakar to weigh in at just 1,605 kg - a mere 10 kg heavier than the 911 Carrera 4 GTS with PDK.

A defining feature of the Dakar interior is the standard Race-Tex surfaces with decorative stitching in Shade Green, which is also exclusively available as a metallic exterior finish for the 911 Dakar. The Rallye Sport Package with roll-over bar, six-point seat belts and fire extinguisher is optional.

Rallye Design Package with styling that echoes that of the 1984 Paris-Dakar-winning rallye car

At the heart of the optional Rallye Design Package from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur is a two-tone paint finish in White/Enzian Blue Metallic. This is the first time that Porsche has implemented the combination of bi-colour paint and decorative foiling in series production. On the side of the vehicle, the customer can choose an individual race number between 0 and 999. In addition to the rallye stripes in red and gold, the 911 Dakar with Rallye Design Package, whose appearance is based on the winning vehicle of the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rallye, also bears the "Roughroads" lettering on the doors. The term is a registered trademark and reflects the concept of the 911 Dakar and its suitability for driving off-road. The white-painted rims and the red taillight strip, in contrast to the standard vehicle, round off the distinctive appearance. Further highlights can be found in the interior: Extended Race-Tex and leather surrounds as well as seat belts and accents in Sharkblue.

The new Porsche 911 Dakar can be ordered now at a price of € 222,020 incl. VAT. The Rallye Design Package costs 26,061 euros including VAT.

I like the Rothman's homage livery, but would probably not put my $ on one of these & would opt for a more 'normal' 911.

This Dakar has ski-town rich guy written all over it. The faux Rothman's paint is an extra $24K

Some of the latest high-end 911's are truly stunning with the workmanship and craftsmanship of the assembly and construction.

Not really the case with my 991.1 GTS because it is relatively new, but having done some work and detailed my 993 from top to bottom, and I mean the underside, the workmanship and attention to detail on this 27 year old car is impressive. And on the 991.1, it is miles ahead over the 993.

I have worked on other brands (lets not mention names), but talk about crude as to how things are made and put together.

I just can't get into the marketing of bling, but they are just copying HD, Ferrari and the status BS.

I doubt it will be a big seller when compared to the rest of the 911 line. They will be sold to someone who already has a real 911 and not to a first time buyer. Some marketing type thought that car up. But you know consumers; this car is new and different and they want to be the first to have it for the "attention factor".

But BMW did the same thing when they came out with the GS series of motorcycles in 1980 (after a Paris-Dakar win on prototypes) and they are still being made today. In fact the GS is one of BMW's best sellers, if not the best. When the GS first caught my eye in the mid-80s, I thought what a rediculously looking motorcycle. I now own four GSes from a 1986 R80 G/S Paris-Dakar to a 2016 R1200 GS Adventure after I bought my first GS in 1991, a new 1990 R100 GS in Marrakesh Red. GSes are comfortable and practical and they have long range tanks as I hate stopping for gas.

But somehow I doubt the 911 Dakar will be a best seller...not even close.
