justin after brainstorming a little some more questions popped into my head.
Is the new RL going to have a "Leather Interior". Judging by those pictures on the mini-site, it looked like there was an extensive use of leather (perforated and supple, which reminds me... what type of leather is it going to be?)
Also, is there going to be a different type of wood (birds-eye, maple, chestnut) for the taupe or parchment interior? The only company I know who offers only walnut (like that in the pictures) on all their interior colors is MB.
If you do get to answering these questions thank you, really appreciate it. It's not every lifetime you get to ask an Acura insider questions he can answer
.
Oh, and can we get an MSRP figure? Again thanks for any answers, and feel free to add to our knowledge some cool features we know nothing about.

This RL is looking better and better (not visually)...
Seems like this is going to be like the TL and TSX... everything is standard, with only three or four configuration... everything is standard.
Junkster, who sometimes doesn't like leather interiors

Do you ever get tired of ragging on the RL?

All I have to say is, that fawkers badass. I can't believe anyone that likes the TSX, doesn't like the new RL. I'm hoping maybe in 2 years when the TSX goes back, there will be a nice clean 05 RL CPO of course. Hey ya never know.

it looks nice .. better than wut i was expecting .. .. the concept pics look alot worse than the real pics ... not bad and see some big improving on the exterior and interior ...
it's good that many featrues r standard ...
and this is probably how Acura deal with other competitions

It didn't take long for the Autospies trolls to take the pics we've seen recently and push them on their site.
I don't think much else new will develop before the first RD.

So if you are going to lament what you consider to be a lack of torque in the RL, and therefore you assume that Acura and Lexus buyers want a sporty car, you must concede that the car will be as sporty as any of the Lexuses [sic] in the stable.
Most car owners don't know anything about torque anyway, especially Lexus owners.

but i probably wont consider a toyota/Lexus when i have a family .. ~~ y not go for BMM/MB for a bit more ... Lexus's price is weird

I also work for Acura for quite a while but justin can get info faster over the west coast though. I am usually 2 weeks behind even for Ride and Drive event.

Why every hater says this crap..
Im assuming the RL has a 3.5l engine or somewhere in that vacinity............
How is that a "torqueless wonder"..........
How is 260lbs of torque low for a 3.5l (assuming that it is a 3.5l engine)
Anyone know whats the displacement of the RL's engine by the way?
Im a noob!

Dealer principal meeting is being held in Chicago as we speak! It is the showcase for 05 RL for GMs and Dealers. It started yesterday and I hope my GM can take some digital pictures so I can share with every one when she comes back on Friday!

Thanx Biker............
Thats what I dont understand its 3.5l so how can 260lbs of torque or 352Nm be low for that amount of displacement!
So I dont get this "torqueless wonder" bullsh*t that goes around!

The overall performance, especially in the new RL with SHAWD, is also influenced by more than just numbers., You could have a 400HP engine with most of it above say 5000RPM and it would suck at 0-60 times. Or you could have a very uneven torque curve that makes for uneven accelaration. And of course for the new RL who knows what the SHAWD will do for performance. We'll just have to wait and see.

I don't expect the new RL to be some sub 6 seconds 0-60 car. I doubt it'll be available with a manual anyway. It'll probably be mid to high 6's, which is very good for a V6, IMO.

Acura needs another supercar but the RL isn't it.
The RL will still move with the best of them.

Just like Infinit pulled something out of thin air with their LDW (lane departure warning) system it seems Honda also with this:
"As part of Tuesday's event, Honda also announced new technology that sends a warning signal to a driver when two sensors under the headlights detect a pedestrian in the dark.
The so-called intelligent night vision system technology, a world first, will be available as an option on the new Honda Legend luxury sedan, to be launched in October.
Other car makers such as rival Toyota Motor Corp. have similar technology that displays objects using night vision sensors, but Honda's is the first to pick out pedestrians, enclosing the image in an orange frame in a heads-up display reflected above the dashboard.
Honda did not say how much the night vision system would cost, but an engineer said it would be "a few thousand dollars".
The technology is far from complete: while it is smart enough to recognize people by the shape of the head and shoulders as well as by detecting body temperature, it won't be able to pick them out on a bicycle or under an opaque umbrella.
The system is also useless in temperatures above 86 degrees Fahrenheit."
And you thought the RL would have no options...ha!
