What happened to timelessly classic?

I think the new '06s with the new wheels look a hell of a lot better.

Those older 17s looked like shit and made the car look dumpy.

As the Versa, new Sentra and, later this year, new Quest, new Maxima and all-new Altima designs demonstrate, Nissan will be very aggressive in keeping its products fresh and innovative. People turn to Nissan for products that enrich their lives in newer, better ways, and these new models fulfill that need and that promise. - Carlos Ghosn, 1/9/06

Stay tuned.....

Think the keyword is "new", it doesn't say "all-new" like it does for the altima. They don't need an all new car with the maxima. Hopefully they come up with a stylish/sporty steering wheel design that seperates themselves from infiniti. And if it rivals the M, who cares, I don't mind paying less for more.

The Sentra is also going to be redesigned and that doesnt say "all-new" either. It sounds like they want the Altima to be the star of the show.

True in that sentence, but on the original link, throughout the press release the versa, sentra and altima all get referred to as all-new, the maxima only is said to be new. http://www.nissannews.com/corporate/...17012003.shtml

I completely disagree. The Z's style to me is pretty classic and ages quite well. They just refreshed the Z for 06, so I doubt we will see a completely new Z until MY 08.

Nope, I liked the design at first and the but the rearend looks dated to me already. I think the G35 coupe is more timeless and classic to me.

As time goes on I've actually grown to like the look of the 350Z more. A couple years ago I loved the G35 but was "meh" about the 350Z. I'd say I like them both equally when done right now.

Think the thing that is going to be interesting about the Altima release is the base engine. What is it? Turbo, something new, something old, etc..

I'd take an SE-R Alti over an Ex accord, but I'd take an EX v6 Accord 6-speed Sedan over an altima without even thinking twice.

Why, they have yet to prove they can build an i-4 the honda way. Turbo their now new sentra engine to 170-80hp would do the trick without to much trouble. Trying to buiild another qr could be another embarisment.

Well, it's obvious that not many people who have posted here have driven a MT car, because that's the 1st thing that should be changed on this car; most people really can't shift very well with the right elbow, or aren't 7ft tall.

the 2.4 in the tsx makes 205hp SAE. what are nissans SAE numbers? who knows since they're scared to retest.
to me, the nissan way = more displacement. here's some for you

What do you mean "scared to retest." All automakers retested. It's not an option. Nissans numbers stayed pretty consistent. Some of Honda's inched downward... some of Ford's and GM's acutally went up... Toyota's the one that got beat up for not having accurate numbers.

Actually honda did build their v6 the Nissan way, its in the RL. That really has nothing to do with this though.

Think the QR hp has been overstated on paper since its introduction. Grassroots did a comparo of the Specv, SI etc back in the day : Sentra measured 138.2hp, si measured 137.0 hp. I'm sure Altima and Sentra drivers appreciate the torque of the 2.5 engine, but Honda seems to be the one with the higher fuel efficiency while having specs that are fine for the segment:2.4 166hp/160lbft, they obviously could bump it up if they wanted to, but thats most likely for the next gen. Seems like everytime a Honda 4-cyl is reviewed its praised for its smoothness, refinement, etc. Nissan isn't known for that. Thats why I said turbo along the lines of the power output VW has.

Actually it is an option for current cars and I don't think the qr was retested. All new models will be tested under the new standards

lol...u're comparing a 28k acura to a sentra

the funnier part is, the specV would smoke a TSX

so r u saying that more displacement is a bad thing?

yea, it doesn't really have anything to do with this though, but the RL's 24-valve, SOHC VTEC® V-6 engine with 290 @ 6200 rpm and 256 lbs-ft @ 5000 rpm really isn't the "nissan way"

yes, the QR was overrated when it first came out and nissan bumped it down 5 hp but the specV smoked the SI in pretty much everything....and i dont see how adding turbo would refine or make an engine smoother, so i dont see that happening.

btw, i'm not saying hondas I-4 aren't good, they are one of the best IMO.
