Looks like a sparingly carved bar a of soap with some aluminum foil stuck on the back (in stock form). Needless to say, I don't like the car, and i think it needs a styling change.

yea i think that has a better chance of being an ion spy shot with the tall roofline over the rear seats. can also see the similiar vertical reverse lights in this pic
for 2004 you can expect a new interior and probably a grill badge like the 04 maxima.

an adult perspective
r you sure that that wasn't one of the test mules for the new Maxima? The silver car which was photo'd around Gardenia was a masked Altima which was the basis for the new Max. just a thought

The front end looks much better than the current one. The current Altima is beautiful every way around it, except for the front. It is kind of blah and boring for such a sharp car

They finally decided to upgrade the worst interior in the history of the modern family car. GM even has pics of the Altima interior of what NOT to do. Has anyone actually driven/seen the inside? I could not believe how bad it was. Worse than a Geo Metro.
So anything could be better for it.

I rode in an SL model before. I've seen worst interiors, but I hated the design itself more than the sub-par materials being used. It looks like they changed the design aspect pretty good.
I will reserved judgement, until I see real photos. I've heard rumors that the quality of this new interior is excellent, but I'll believe it when I see it. The only thing I think is stupid is that Nissan is most likely going to offer the sportshift auto in the 3.5 versions only .
Mark my words though even if this re-design holds true to the rumors of it being top quality etc. etc. People are still going to find something about this car to bitch about and still call it cheap. So its a wasted effort in my eyes.

1. Design
2. Quality of materials used
3. Fit and finish
As far as design, the Altima's interior is not below average in my opinion.
As far as quality of materials used, it was average to slightly below average.
Finally, the fit was interesting, because the first year cars were pathetic and the second year cars were average to that respect.
