That is the point of the discussion, Nissan is giving owners choice and taking nothing away from the driving experience. They are enhancing the driving experience by giving experts the choice to turn it off and novice's the choice to turn it on. Win-win. If there was no off switch, it would be a different story. DSG will never provide a pure driving experience of a real manual, period.

Ewwwwww. They ruined the look. Then again, I was a fan of the Gloria/1st gen M, so I'm weird that way.

But that 5.6 l engine gets my attention.

Where are you, ACURA? I demand an RL with a V8 engine. Oh wait, they gave up on it and said they weren't going to chase that market anymore. Tier 1 my ass!

the thing that doesn't make sense to me is that whenever nissan unveils a new infiniti model, the majority of people like it, but the infiniti sales still trail acura even with their ugly new designs.

on the other hand, when honda unveils a new acura it gets hated on and beat to death with a horse, but sales are still better than infiniti.

Infiniti sales are better than Acura by Value.
G Sedan/Coupe/Convertible exceed TL.
M exceed RL
They dont have anything to compete with TSX/MDX. which is the sales difference.
They need under $30K loaded sedan with good fuel economy and 7 seater SUV in $40k range. QX56 is too big and expensive. There is indication that new Nissan Patrol will come for QX56.

2011 Infiniti M Makes Virtual Debut at Concours d’Elegance
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (Aug. 14, 2009) – Infiniti today provided an advanced look at the all-new 2011 Infiniti M performance luxury sedan at the 59th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. This is the third generation of Infiniti’s popular M and the first to be sold across all of Infiniti’s 32 markets around the world, including Western Europe.

Like the current Infiniti M, the next-generation design will be offered with V8 and V6 engines. The 2011 M models will be designated the Infiniti M56 and Infiniti M37 respectively, reflecting their more powerful, larger displacement engines. The M56 V8 is expected to offer more than 400 horsepower. For Western Europe, the M56 will be replaced by a V6 performance diesel.

The 2011 Infiniti M also features a completely redesigned body, with authentic sports sedan proportions and evocative new styling with a low front end and deeply sculpted fenders inspired by the Infiniti Essence concept car. The new M interior promises to be pure Infiniti, highlighted by the use of innovative materials, an advanced climate control system, superior audio and an enhanced quality feel. Despite improved performance from the new engine lineup, fuel consumption will be reduced.

In addition, the 2011 M will continue Infiniti’s technology innovation leadership with a blind spot intervention system. This industry-first system is designed to help alert the driver if another vehicle is detected in an adjacent lane during an intended lane change, and then help assist the driver in returning the vehicle toward the center of the original lane of travel.

The 2011 Infiniti M, which is scheduled to go on sale across the world starting from spring 2010, was revealed through a unique “video mapping” process – in which a “virtual M” was created on a 3D form. It is the world’s first “virtual only” (no physical vehicle) automotive application of this cutting-edge technology. The 2011 Infiniti M will make its official public debut later this year.

Can you clarify what you mean by infiniti sales are better than acura by value, do you mean resale value?

I agree, I have been begging nissan to bring a TSX competitor and something bigger than the FX, but smaller than the QX56.

I believe he means by model.

I think the number of dealerships have something to do with it as well. I recall seeing that Acura has a greater number of dealerships, and of course that means more coverage and reaching more customers.

Car is gorgeous, and that 5.6 Liter V8 400+HP engine

Infiniti moving into the right direction. All this new M talk
makes me wonder what the future lies for the G, if they
make a V8 G I would cream in my pants as I dance to the
dealer to purchase.

I like it. I was hoping to be floored by it but I wasn't. Maybe that's because I'm so well versed in the Essence Concept's styling. Still, a very very good effort. One of the main sticking points for me is that Nissan keeps Infiniti's new switch gear out of it's cars... namely the Max. The new Max has the same rotary knob and interior switch gear as is found on the current gen M and it pisses the hell out of me.

It looks like the offspring of the Maxima and G37. It's not bad, but the exterior isn't particularly imaginative considering Nissan's recent designs. On the other hand, I like the look of the interior.

Infiniti does not need anything under 30k. If someone wants something under 30k... try Nissan please...

Even Acura doesn't have anything under 30k now since TSX starts at 32k....

What infiniti needs now is NEW Q56S and Q56L-S or whatever they will call it. and it should starts at mid 50k to mid 60k. with RWD and AWD

On Acura.com, the 2010 TSX base starts at $29,310. Infiniti does need something that starts at 29K to start people people off in their brand. I wish they would offer a G25 or G27. It would definately eat into TSX sales easily.

I should send an email or letter to nissan and let my opinion be known to make a G27 because car makers never read these forums anyways.

I do agree Infiniti needs a new Q to compete with the S class, 7 series, A8, and LS460.

I do agree the exterior designs aren't as imaginative especially when Nissan/Infiniti started with this new look back in 2003. Their designs are more evolutions rather than new designs that no one has seen before.

Still better than Acura though.

what I was thinking exactly. It has the bold, muscular all over the front end/hood and the lines follow throughout the entire body down to the rear bumper, similar to the Maxima. But it has the much prettier face that's influenced by the G37 sedan. Bold, yet still elegant.

That V8! If this car is available with a manual transmission.... not like I'll be able to afford one but once pre-owned..... who knows

Good looking car. Very curvaceous and striking exterior design. The interior design, overall, is really nice looking, but the center stack looks kinda funky, and may require more detailed images.

Infiniti certainly needs sedan/coupe under $30K. Look new Audi A3 sedan/BMW 120/320 will come in 4 cylinder not to mention current TSX.
Infinit strong points are in entry to mid level in sedans. They cant compete with S/7/A8 around the world. Infinit is global brand now. It has started in EU. they need cars for all markets. I am eagerly waiting for new Nissan Patrol SUV.

http://www.motorauthority.com/blog/1...u-s-production
On the brighter side at Nissan/Infiniti, however, new versions of the M, QX and an all-new petrol-electric hybrid model have all been confirmed for production. Just a week ago John Capps, chairman of Infiniti’s National Dealer Advisory Board revealed that the cars had been green-lighted.

The hybrid model in particular will be of interest. Branded as an Infiniti vehicle, it will likely do battle with Lexus' recently-released HS 250h dedicated hybrid. Based around a G35 or G37 platform, the car is expected to feature a unique double-clutch system among other innovations. For more on the hybrid

2011 Infiniti M

Hey guys, any of you see the new Infiniti M coming out next spring, looks pretty sick. M37 and M56 over 400 hp... sounds pretty sick.

Cool

Looks like the M56 is going to get about 429 HP...

Aug 15th, 2009

I was lucky enough to participate in an early focus group last year and got to see full scale models of this car in person. At that time I owned an 07' G35x just so you can understand my opinion.

When I walked into the section of the room that had the cars in it, they had this car lined up against the Lexus GS, BMW 5-Series, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. I literally stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the M. My first thought was it was a G on steroids. I love the G lines, they just ooze power and performance.

This car doesn't look bad from any angle. They made us comment from at least 6 different viewpoints around the car. It drips muscle and luxury from everywhere. The other cars just didn't hold candle to this model.

The one thing I can't stand about the older Infiniti's is the interior. Just doesn't stand up to the exterior styling. Having sat in an interior mock-up, it addressed just about all of my issues. Their attention to detail even went down to the level of the interior door handles. The signature clock is even mother of pearl. It oozes luxury inside.

The V8 will be about 429 HP if they hold true to what they told us on the V8 focus group. They even had a hybrid group so that might be coming down the road. There will be some really cool tech coming in as options that will rival the new toys on the E-Class.

The current Japanese car owners all went nuts, the Euro car owners were mixed. I have to say that when they come out with the AWD M56x I will probably be first in line.

Hmmm

Not feeling those drawings. Got any real pics?

Its really reminding me of the first gen hyundai Tiburon. I personally dont like the body lines. Too round and bulgy looking. Hopefully the real thing is alot better looking.

The RL is actually very nice looking except the front end a little. The TL is just hideauos from every angle.

To me the Infiniti looks a hell of a lot more aggressive. I'm sure the lines will look less obvious on the actual pics.

Acura vs. Infiniti, seems to me that Acura designers can't get it right, while Infiniti designers get it. I'm waiting to see how the 3rd gen possibly 2012 G37 sedan new bodystyle will look like.

*Side Note: I also think Infiniti should add another car to its line-up that competes against the LS, 7-Series, and S-Class.
