Holy shit that is pretty nice. For the first time ever I can say I'd get a new Focus over a new Civic with a straight face. That silver sedan looks good

Wow, that looks absolutely fantastic. Lets just hope it retains its European flavor.

I think I read at autoblog that they will sell the RS here. It'll have 255 hp Ecoboost I believe. Not as much horsepower as the Mazda3 but still more than enough for a compact car

The Hatch looks as expected, the sedan a little more sedate. This is still a shared Mazda 3 platform right?

I could be wrong, but the article makes it seem like the car is almost 100% euro....from platform to powerplant....my guess is it's a Ford platform....perhaps the new 3 is already riding on it?

I gotta say a new DI 2.0L w/ dual clutch tranny...

Come on Ford....you got a homerun here....now get a grandslam and bring the ecoboost stateside!!!!

IIRC the Mazda 3 has always been based off (shared) the European Focus. The NA Focus was not on the same platform....until now.

honda should be worried. the current civic is weird, ugly even. judging from their latest designs i dont have high hopes for the next civic.

i'd be surprised if this new focus doesnt outsell the civic/corolla

"We'd like to," said Capito, "but the base car isn't homologated for North America and that's too costly a job to carry out just for a niche vehicle like the RS."
As much as I hate to hear this, I have to agree. This car only appeals to a minor niche market because of that it really doesn't make sense from a cost benefit analysis to bring the car stateside.

Ford doesn't want to take any steps that would head them into the negative on their balance sheet.

It is, however, unfortunate for those, like me, who really wished to drive the car.

nice Focus.

With the Fusion, Fiesta, and Focus, the Ford brand will now carry much more significant weight. their CEO is doing a better job than the Honda CEO.

i think they've done a good job with the taurus too. (i just think it's kinda pricey. maybe that's just me.) and the mustang, which i like as well.

looking forward to what they do with their trucks and SUVs now.

and if they can make a good minivan, they should see even more money go their way.

Ford is on a freakin' roll. Style-wise, best in its segment.

I guess I'm the only who doesn't like it. The hatch does look better than the sedan, though. And the interior is a marked improvement over the last gen.

My brother is at the NAIAS in Detroit. He works extremely close with Ford, and has confirmed that it is the same platform as the European version. VP of Sales also confirmed they will be offering a candy red color, seen on a compact concept sedan in various other shows. The name of the car (and color) escapes me, but it's an awesome color for a production car. The color is a no-cost option.

Now what Im really interested in seeing is the new fusion that comes out in a couple years. I was just in the Regal thread and am extremely excited about the Regal GS concept (that will hopefully become a production model!)

So what will it be... next gen Fusion or Buick Regal GS? Maybe entry level ATS from Caddy? I'm still a few years off, but it's hella exciting to have so much product (especially domestic) to be able to choose from.
