Ford: 500 news
So far all Ford is showing of the upcoming Five Hundred is a soft rendering. But we’ve caught the real thing! Granted, it is covered in camouflage, but there is no mistaking – this is the 2005 Five Hundred.
The Chicago-built Ford Five-Hundred, code named D258, has obvious European influences in its overall design. Powered by a Duratec 3.0-liter V-6, the Five Hundred will be offered with either a six-speed automatic transmission or a CVT. Front-wheel drive will be standard, with an all-wheel drive option available.
The Five Hundred will be sharing its platform with the future Freestyle crossover and is expected to be at dealerships sometime in 2004. We’re anticipating pricing in the $25,000 to $30,000 range.

Calling this a bloated Taurus is like calling the CL a bloated RSX.
Hopefully this car will look like the concept drawings -

My girlfriend and I saw the EXACT car in the spy photos on I-275 southbound just north of I-96. I didn't get a chance to snap a picture because he took a different expressway than me. :o

We got one in our garage @ work. The interior is pretty nice... Haven't driven one yet... might get to in a couple more months.
There's a station wagon as well... Not the most exciting car.

Sorry for the size, don't have image editing software.
That is the 2004 Mondeo ST220.
That's a good lookin car IMO
edit: GD Ford ... How the hell could that car NOT sell here? The preponderance of marketing arms driving manufacturer distribution decisions is just galactically asinine.

These marketing morons are doing the same thing. Limiting our choices by telling us what is good for us. Yet no one says anything. I don't understand.
