the car is not bad looking. What jackasses. They need to put an engine in that car instead of that hamsterwheel they have in there.
American car companies aggravate me. I want them to do good. I would go back to American cars in heartbeat if they would get there shit back together.

The sad thing about this vehicle is that it's great under the skin and even interior-wise (for its price). Remember they used the S80's platform. But they ruined the whole thing with the exterior being blander than Volvo's 80s run. Why is it so hard to nail a mass production car at Ford and GM? Fine, the Mustang is one of the few exceptions.

Its definitely not bad looking. It's no worse than a Camry or Accord. It needs a decent engine.
I also have a special place in my heart for American cars, but some of their moves lately keep me from going back.

FYI...I just read a post on Blueovalnew.com that stated the 3.5L in the MKX and Edge will be release @ 265hp. Putting a 265+hp in the 500 with the Fusion front facia should make this car interesting.

The Azera is a lot nicer than the XG and its a worthy competitor against other cars in its class.

Ford's Five Hundred platform will underpin four new vehicles - - By AMY WILSON | AUTOMOTIVE NEWS - - Source: Autoweek
DETROIT -- Ford Motor Co. intends to introduce at least four new products for North America off the platform underpinning the Ford Five Hundred, a top executive said today.
Dave Szczupak, group vice president of manufacturing for the Americas, talked about the new products during an address to analysts at the JP Morgan/Harbour automotive conference in Dearborn, Mich. He showed a slide that indicated two of the new products would be sedans, and two would be for "future unique segments."
Neither Szczupak nor a company spokeswoman would say anything more about the products or their timing.
But Ford's strategy of spinning multiple "top hat" vehicles off a common architecture gives the automaker "flexibility and market responsiveness without incurring undue time and cost," Szczupak said.
The Ford Fusion and its sibling vehicles are one example of that. The Fusion, introduced in 2005, was derived from the Mazda6 platform. It is shared with the Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr sedans and the coming Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX and Mazda CX9 crossovers.
The Five Hundred sedan, introduced in 2004, was derived from a Volvo platform that also was used to create the Mercury Montego sedan and Ford Freestyle crossover.
It is widely expected that the automaker will use the Five Hundred platform to build two crossovers for Ford and Lincoln around 2008. The Ford version would be based on the Fairlane concept shown at the 2005 Detroit auto show.
Ford internally is calling those vehicles "people movers." The vehicles, code-named D471 and D472, are intended to replace conventional minivans in the automaker's lineup.
The Five Hundred platform also is expected to spawn a new sedan for Lincoln based on the MKS concept shown at the 2006 Detroit auto show. Ford told dealers last week that a production version of the MKS is slated for introduction in early 2008.
Plans for the second sedan are not clear. At one point, the MKS program, code-named D385, was paired with a larger companion sedan for Lincoln. But in recent months, suppliers and analysts have said the larger vehicle, code-named E386, was put on a back burner and may have been canceled.

^ Not bad, but they'd better fast track these vehicles. Also, they're idiots, IMHO, if they don't make the E386. From what I understand, its a large, full size flagship with standard AWD and loaded with value, with alot of the design ques taken from the MKS concept.

2008 Ford Five Hundred Preview - - by Marty Padgett - - Source: The Car Connection
Ford's Five Hundred sedan has taken its share of hits for its conservative styling. So, for 2008, Ford is sharpening the full-sizer's front-end appeal, bringing it more in line with the sedan's surprising ride and handling.
The big upgrades for the 2008 Five Hundred start in front and back, where Ford adopts the three-bar grille found on the new Fusion and Edge. The hood is sculptured, with a slight edge applied to the chin spoiler. In back, fresh taillamps give the sedan's tail a more modern look, with Limited editions donning a splash of chrome trim.
The interior receives a few updates of its own. A new center console sports enough room for a purse or a camera on top of a larger bin. More sound deadening has been applied to quiet the Five Hundred's drivetrain.
And for 2008, the drivetrain moves smartly ahead from the underwhelming CVT/200-hp combination that the Five Hundred has used since launch. The new powertrain is a standard 260-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 with a six-speed automatic transmission. With 30 percent more power, the Five Hundred gets better fuel economy and qualifies as a Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV).
All-wheel drive remains an option across the Five Hundred lineup. Stability control is available as well.

Very Mercedes-ish with the horizontal lines in the tail lights
