Acura: TSX News

I was like, "did they just say sportscar?" Indeed they did say sportscar,...I hope they change that.
Just finished watching the making thing. Pretty neat stuff.

You can use Sport Mode all the way upto 130mph. I dont see any issue with transmission setup.
C&D numbers are wayoff but your still debating with irrelevant stuff.
I am not going to bring PS2 tire setup of SH-AWD while TSX V6 is on all season.
From what i tested TSX V6 is so fast between 100 to 120mph that you wont even feel it. more like 6 to 7 second dfference with I-4.

Acura put a taller 4th and 5th gear in the TL so it could get much better MPG! my 3G can get almost 35 MPG with the cruise control set at 75, and the same goes for many other TL owners. If it were like the G sedan (older one), then it'd be getting MPG somewhere in the 20's. Not every aspect is made for performance! In the real world, only a handful of people will take their TL's past 90 MPH, and even more-so past 120.
Is a car getting 35MPG better even though it's slower to 120, or is a car getting 20-something MPG but faster to 120 better for an average consumer ?
And FYI, the TL's "brick wall" only lasts for a few seconds, it has no problem getting up to 160 in stock form.

How 0-60mph slow start changes at 0-100mph into much wider gap
It is embarssing 6speed Auto cars. TSX V6 is world most most aerodynamic sedan. beyond any doubt. It only loses out because of Subject criteria of Styling.

This car need SH-AWD/3.7L & 6MT/6AT. and you have fastest Acura ever built.
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...mparison_tests
In truth, this comparo was centered around Buick’s handsome Regal Turbo, the newcomer on the block. We flanked it with the slightly less-expensive Volkswagen CC (whose turbocharged inline-four is but one cubic inch smaller than the Buick’s) and the more expensive Acura TSX fitted with the optional 280-hp V-6. Yes, we might’ve clutched fast to the base TSX’s 201-hp inline-four, but Buick is making a fuss about how its turboed four will tackle virtually all V-6 comers. So we decided to find out.
With a 60-horse edge on one competitor and an 80-horse edge on the other, the TSX V-6 predictably carpet-bombed the drag strip, besting its competitors in every accelerative event—save 30-to-50 passing potential—right up to its 131-mph top speed. Connect all that forward thrust to what is the shortest car in this group, and you’d summon some sort of deviantly agile missile, right?
Notice that the TSX racked up our fastest lane-change speed, topping the VW by 3.8 mph.

I told you so. Look at TSX V6 5speed Auto numbers both in Performance/Fuel Economy.

But, okay...sure.

No other car can put this numbers with 5speed auto & current power to weight ratio & frontal size. (1inch more height than VW CC) on all season tires. It is not just Performance but fuel economy with 5speed.
Give it PS2 setup like TL-SH-AWD with 6MT. It is well under 5 second time even with 280bhp engine.
Offcourse C&D didnot want to publish 100-120mph timings. otherwise the whole competition will become meaningless.

Impressive showing by the TSX. Good power and fuel economy.
But
I'd save the 6K and choose the CC instead. Chip it for $500 or so and you have a V6 TSX beater.....in every respect.
But
So, please examine the numbers. To 30 mph, the CC lagged merely 0.1 second behind the 80-horse-stronger Acura and was only 0.4 second behind it to 60 mph. Just as impressive, the CC absolutely annihilated the competition in the telling 30-to-50-mph top-gear test. That it was by far the lightest of our participants helped. That it achieved the best fuel economy is simply a tribute to conscientious engineering. If Buick is looking to perfect its four-cylinder turbo, it should look no further than VW’s version: quiet, smooth, responsive, and emanating subtle whirrings that will have you confusing it for a small V-6. Or a turbine. No matter what, it never sounds like a cheap four-banger.
The CC’s “bests” clogged the floodgates: best skidpad grip, best ergonomics, best fit and finish, best exterior styling, best interior styling, best handling, best transmission, best steering, best as-tested price, and best driver comfort. So enticing was the front-passenger seat that photographer Marc Urbano selected it for nearly every minute of our 900-mile Granot Loma odyssey.
“This is the only car that invited me to have fun,”

Although the TSX V-6 carries the highest base and as-tested prices in this group, it offers a list of features and amenities as long as your leg. What’s more, remember that it’s a European Honda Accord, so resale value will remain strong and nothing should break.
#2534
The TSX is plagued by a host of issues, just ask any Acura mechanic when his manager is not around. Resale values also have plunged in recent years. The Japnaese cachet is not what it used to be. The break pad issue is only one of the problems. The CC is a far better value and performance.

It is like claiming BMW blue efficiency diesel figure (16inch tires). They were tom tom around with over 70mpg when Honda Euro Accord diesel it only 48mpg. but once they were put st dizier 145 to 172 kph. the result is pretty obvious. Anything above 70mph. Aerodynamics plays big part not the 6speed transmission alone.
#2536
I guess you miss this part. Your not saving $6k. it was the 4cylinder brake pad issue that didnot make TSX to top like RL in

The Acura is a superior vehicle in every way. Those recalls are merely an attempt by Acura to even the playing field so the other manufacturers don't feel their engineers are inferior.

And using CC navigation is safety threat. very un ergonomic.
C&D obviously didnot want to embrace the 4 bangers thats why it didnot chose to publish above 100mph timings. that would have truly bombed the drag strip.
Biggest surpise is fuel economy of 4 bangers despite having 6speed Autos.

that MB E class is some where hidden in EU. It cannot show its lovely face and handling here.
http://www.emercedesbenz.com/autos/m...-aerodynamics/
The new E-Class family is the new benchmark in the automotive world. Although the base tyres are becoming increasingly wide – not necessarily to the delight of the aerodynamicists – and the wheels are becoming increasingly large, the Saloon version is one of the world’s most streamlined four-door models, with a cd figure of 0.25. And the Coupé model’s cd figure of 0.24 is a new record for production cars.
Resistance that does not have to be overcome requires no power and, therefore, does not cause fuel consumption. As motor vehicles increase their speed, wind resistance above all becomes a factor, as it increases at the square of the vehicle speed: at a speed of around 80 km/h, it becomes greater than the sum of all other driving resistance, making it the key variable when determining the overall resistance. But even at lower speeds, the 1.2 kg or so of air per cubic metre that the car has to get through must not be neglected: in a modern car, assuming a typical customer driving cycle, around two litres of fuel per 100 kilometres are required just to overcome the wind resistance

it is the blue efficiency 4cylinder version with its hybrid like 16inch wheels.
Imagine driving E class size car on 16inches.
It will be like Acura creating a stupid downgraded version of TSX on 16inch rims & Honda insight engine pushing a 1540 kg car.
How your going to test such a car for high speed performance & handling when it is so weak and will take for ever to pass over 100mph?.
remember it is not the size of money in economy but velocity of money that matters.

If you are SSFTSX and somebody calls you out on your stupidity and incorrect information what do you do? Just change the parameters of the argument...... or insert random disconnected argument that was not even being discussed (e.g. ground clearance, side mirrors, etc)...
