Sounds promising, but I think I'd rather wait until a 6MT version comes out, or just go with something else like a 135i or 335Ci. I'd definitely get the Euro Sport Grille and paint it black if I bought the TSX though, I still can't stand that Power Plenum crap.

lol CJ not sure if you know but I'm actually Hondarulez from TOV :P I agree that some posters were even more "offensive" than you so I was surprised that you got banned before them....
Seems to me that they are simply giving consumers another option, rather than making a sporty model. I guess that makes sense, otherwise it would be called the TSX Type S rather than TSX V6.
That V6 badge shouldn't be there by the way...doesn't look good on the car...

I don't understand the horsepower argument. As long as they keep the I4 TSX around, it doesn't matter imho if they have a TSX "Type S" that gives you a V6 option.
I don't really buy that people buy cars based solely off horsepower too, BMW has proven it doesn't matter:
128i,328i,528i = 3.0L V6 with 230hp -- Does that mean nobody is going to buy a 528i because the 128i has the same horsepower?
And its the same for the 135i,335i,535i with the 3.0L Twin Turbo V6 and 300hp.
I don't think its a problem for them to offer the V6 in the TSX. People will still buy the TL, because they want the extra space, SH-AWD (in the model that offers it) or even the nameplate.

The 1-series is too small a car for adults. They're for kids going to school. So the average adult 3-series buyers won't be threatened by the 135i.

And yes the V6 badge does look very tacky haha

And those wheels...talk about BORING! Acura needs to hire some new wheel designers because their wheels designs really need some work.
#1970
weak...at least give me a 6spd although im sure 2011 will offer it. Hopefully the TL will get a V8 and have 3 engine options. This doesnt excite me, I am happy they are starting to offer engine options besides type S and base. Going in the right direction.

I'm going to say it again:
GOOD ON ACURA. This is a great move. 6MT or no 6MT, this car is going to sell like hotcakes. It looks better than the TL, it's tossable, it is officially the FWD 3-series. Acura had a choice after the 4G TL was met with "WTF?" from us Acura fans....and they stepped up to the plate with the TSX.
You guys are just nitpicking. It got the V6 power we enthusiasts have been crying for since 2004. Who knows, maybe a 2012 6MT TSX A-Spec will be in the offing! Acura changed its mind about a V6 in the TSX, who knows, maybe they will add the 6MT later.
This car rocks. I would consider if I were in the market. This is the car that keeps Acura relevant while the TL is tweaked and the RL is recreated.
Now gimme a V8 RL that's decent-looking and I'll be happy. *prays that Acura doesn't F the RL up*

With the exception of the grille the 09 TSX looks really nice. Best looking sedan they have. Lets say pricing for a base V6 TSX starts around 33k well that would be about the old TLs pricing. Which makes sense since they sold a lot of those. While the rims aren't great they are huge improvement over the base I4 TSX.
Its a good start but they have a long way to go.
Paint the grille and you are good to go.

That looks fscking hot.
I thought Acura was on its way out, honestly, after the RL grille fiasco and the TL. The TSX gives me hope that I will buy a fourth Acura rather than buying GM/Cadillac.
All Acura has to do to now keep me a customer is to deliver a decent-looking RL with a V8 option. SH-AWD with rearward bias as a minimum, RWD preferred. The day this is announced is the day I will go to the dealer with a deposit. NOT KIDDING.

Press release...
Acura debuted an all-new V-6 model for its TSX sports sedan line-up at the Chicago Auto Show today. Scheduled to go on sale this summer, the 2010 TSX V-6 will be equipped with a powerful 3.5-liter engine, exclusive suspension tuning, larger diameter wheels and additional enhancements.
"The automotive market may be slowing down, but not Acura," said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales. "With improved acceleration and handling, the new 280 horsepower V-6 adds even more sport to the already sporty nature of the popular TSX sports sedan."
Since its redesign last year, the TSX has shattered sales records to become one of Acura's best-selling sedans. As the entry point to the Acura brand, the four-cylinder TSX has won over customers with its nimble handling, agile driving feel and balanced performance. The V-6 model adds a new level of power on top of these winning traits for a more sporty and spirited driving experience. The V-6 will surely satisfy driving enthusiast's appetite for a fun-to-drive, yet refined sports sedan.
With the introduction of a V-6 powered TSX, Acura will fill a niche in its lineup between the four-cylinder TSX and the all-new TL performance luxury sedan. With the TL moving more upscale following its redesign in the 2009 model year, the TSX V-6 will be aimed squarely at youthful buyers who want a performance-oriented sports sedan in a more personal size.
Powertrain
A new TSX powertrain choice means performance luxury buyers can enjoy a 280 horsepower 3.5L V-6, with sophisticated VTEC® valvetrain control and a dual-stage induction system. For maximum performance and efficiency, the engine will be coupled to Acura's Sequential SportShift automatic transmission, with intelligent features such as Grade Logic Control and Shift Hold Control. If the driver desires, the Sequential SportShift transmission can also be operated manually, via steering-wheel mounted F1®-style paddle shifters.
Body/Chassis
The new TSX model will feature a state-of-the-art, double-wishbone front and multilink rear suspension system to provide excellent ride, handling and control. To generate sportier handling, the V-6 model will also use exclusive suspension tuning along with 18-inch split five-spoke aluminum wheels, fit with Michelin Pilot all-season tires. The larger wheels and tires will help distinguish this performance- minded TSX, as does the slightly revised front fascia and a V-6 badge on the trunk.
The TSX V-6 model will be generously equipped with the latest advancements in safety technology and is anticipated to achieve the highest ratings in both government (NHTSA)* and independent (IIHS) crash testing - including garnering IIHS's TOP SAFETY PICK.
Interior
Like all Acura models, the new TSX will feature an exceptional level of standard equipment, including leather-appointed interior, power moonroof, automatic climate control, a premium seven-speaker sound system with CD, AM/FM tuner, XM® Satellite Radio, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® , USB port and AUX jack music interface and more.
Similar to the four-cylinder TSX, the V-6 model will be available with the optional Technology Package that includes the AcuralinkTM satellite navigation system with rear-view camera and the Acura/ELS Surround® premium audio system for a top-in-class audio experience.
The introduction of the TSX V-6 at the Chicago Auto Show is the first step in a series of major advancements to the 2010 Acura lineup. Almost every Acura sedan and SUV will receive significant enhancements for the 2010 model year.

Pricing for the Canadian market will be interesting...with this new V6 model. (I assume us Canadians will get a six piston TSX)
TSX Premium 4cyl Auto: $37.5k + frieght
TSX Tech Auto: $40.3k
TL Base: $39.9k + frieght
Canada is different than the US, because the top-of-the-line TSX is actually more expensive than a base TL
I have no idea where the V6 TSX will fit in terms of pricing. The base V6 SHOULD be priced lower than a base TL, but there is only a $2400 difference between a 4cyl auto TSX and a base TL (both models without Tech package)...where would this V6 TSX be priced at?

If the bigger TL with a V6 is worth only $2400 more than a TSX, than I suspect a $1500 premium for the V6 or....Canada won't get the V6 at all. I don't see where it fits. They priced the TSX far too high to begin with. Should be interesting.
EDIT: Or TL pricing jumps. No way TSX pricing goes down.

there's already a price difference between the base TSX and the TSX w/ tech package. now you have the V6 and a shrinking gap in price to the base TL.
personally, i'd have liked more of an upgrade besides the engine and call it a type-s.

According to Jeff who talked to some of Honda people, the chance of getting SH-AWD and/or 6MT and/or LSD is pretty slim..which is pretty sad...
I think the pricing of the TSX in Canada is too high - why would anyone buy a base TSX when you can buy a base IS250 for that kind of money? IMO they need to drop the base price of the TSX, or make the premium model cheaper so that they can price the TSX V6.
I don't think I would worry too much about the weight of the TSX V6. Right now the TSX I4 is at 3470lb, add 150 - 200lb to it and it's still around 3650lb. I mean an A4 3.2 Quattro is almost 3900lb (meaning if they were to have a FWD A4 3.2, it would be around 3600-3700lb too, similar to the TSX V6). I guess I shouldn't say 3600 is not heavy, it's just that a lot of cars in this segment weigh as much in their 2WD form.

I am pretty sure us Canadians WILL get a 6cyl TSX, but I think they are more likely to lower the price of the TSX than raise the price of the TL. But either way, there is $2k incentives on TSX and $3k incentives on the TL right now (depending on area), which closes the $2400 gap even more by $1000.

that really is sad. if they put SH-AWD in the TSX, then the entire lineup can resemble Audi's. i love the TSX, since I still own a 2004 TSX myself, but I will probably not want to trade in my TSX for a new V6 TSX unless it had SH-AWD. i really want AWD on my next sedan since I live in a 4 season climate and don't really want the hassle to buy snow tires and putting them on every winter and storing them in the spring/summer/fall months.
it stinks that the only Japanese luxury car companies that offer AWD in their entry level sedans are Infiniti and Lexus. I don't like the IS250 AWD because it's too small in back and way overpriced. That only leaves me the G37x sedan now. don't say the TL because yes it has SH-AWD, but it's still too ugly for me.
