Car buyers are no fool these days. The "larger" 3.7L-V6 engine only has a mere 19 hp and 19 lb-ft increase over the 3.5L-V6. Other RWD car makers may be able to get away with that increase with a 2WD (=RWD) sedan, but Acura has no such luck with the all FWD sedan line-up. To make things worse, this lame "larger" engine is coupled to the even heavier TL-SH-AWD with the power-robbing AWD hardware, which totally cancels out the power boost.
The larger option engine must have at least 40+ more hp and 40+ lb-ft more torque than the base engine to cut it, more so when coupled to AWD hardware. The only way to do it is through force-induction (3.7L-V6 twin-turbo DI) or through larger engine displacement (4L-V8), just like all other true recognized luxury car makers on earth.

I'd go for the V6 TSX. The new TL just looks too big for me and the current TSX grew to almost the same size as my 3G. IMO, the styling is less offensive. I think it's a good move.
Maybe Acura will give the 4G an early face lift and everyone wins?

6G TLX-S
Honda is no fool too and I'm sure they know that 19hp and 19lbft will not give any performance boost to car that has AWD and 200-300 extra pounds. I think that's why the car isn't called the Type S. The extra power is simply for moving that extra weight. lol..let me guess..the next argument will be about how RWD would solve all these problems...I should stop here...lol

My predictions...
2G TSX = aimed to replace the 3G TL - offer 4cyl and v6 options
4G TL = Aimed to replace the RL - Moving up to offer v6 and maybe v8 option 4 years out...
new RL will have to grow, and get a V8 RWD / SH-AWD to compete with the 5 series, A8
I think we'll also be seeing a coupe variation of the TSX, or a smaller car at least... I thought there were talks of a convertible at one time.. Collin might be able to confirm that.
Then you'll have the RDX, MDX and the MSX... if Acura keeps this naming convention...
I think we'll see a DSG, or a 6 or 7sp Auto in ~3 years

I like that idea and I think it would be perfect. It's just like the A4. The K24 would go up against the A4 Front-trak, the K23T would go up against the 2.0T and the J35 would go up against the A4 3.2. The base TL wouldn't be as threatened, by that move either.
Nope, I've been completely locked out. I can't even see the webpage anymore .
It's IMO. There have been worse trolls at TOV, so I don't see why I got the banhammer (although my last few posts there were pretty derogatory ).

I don't understand the horsepower argument. As long as they keep the I4 TSX around, it doesn't matter imho if they have a TSX "Type S" that gives you a V6 option.
I don't really buy that people buy cars based solely off horsepower too, BMW has proven it doesn't matter:
128i,328i,528i = 3.0L V6 with 230hp -- Does that mean nobody is going to buy a 528i because the 128i has the same horsepower?
And its the same for the 135i,335i,535i with the 3.0L Twin Turbo V6 and 300hp.
I don't think its a problem for them to offer the V6 in the TSX. People will still buy the TL, because they want the extra space, SH-AWD (in the model that offers it) or even the nameplate.

It wouldn't surprise me if they had some kind of spyware on the site... a lot of websites are stooping really low these days. Point is, if you use a proxy service, you can get around an IP ban and get to TOV.

Please don't. We've been dealing with someone creating multiple user accounts all day over in the TSX section and as a Mod its a PITA. Don't be an ass. Jeff at TOV did nothing to warrant you wasting his time.

Like the IS250 vs IS350, it seems like the TSX 3.5 will only come with an Automatic....what a shame. That and no SH-AWD. Oh well, it should at least beat the snot outa the Accord V6 and TL in terms of performance.

SH-AWD in the TSX would have made things worse.
...and we already pretty much knew there would be no manual tranny.

First Look: 2010 Acura TSX V-6
Fast at Last? Acura's TSX Sports Sedan Gets V-6 Power for 2010
text size
By Rory Jurnecka
No two ways around it, the revamped 2009 Acura TSX is a larger, heavier car than the version it replaces. Sure, the suspension wizards tinkered around with anti-roll bars, increased the track width, fitted some trick new dual-mode dampers, and shifted the roll center to keep the new TSX feeling as composed as its lighter, nimbler forbearer. Even the drivetrain techies got involved, bumping the 2.4L four-banger's compression ratio, improving its breathing for a small increase in torque (8 lb-ft to 172), and shortening the gear ratios in the manual-equipped car to prevent acceleration times from slipping.
Still, these changes are barely able to confront the TSXs newfound three inches in width, 2.5 inches in length, and 150 pounds in curb weight -- a fact no amount of corporate finger-pointing at ballooning A4 and 3 Series models could deny. And keep in mind that the previous TSX was no barnstormer itself.
The most obvious alternative to putting a car on a diet is to add more power, and that's precisely what Acura has done with its 2010 Acura TSX V-6. Honda's premium automaker has stuffed a 280-hp, 3.5L V-6 into the engine bay of the TSX to mute any cries that the European Accord-based sedan has lost some of its soul. Essentially the same VTEC-enhanced engine found in Acura's base-level TL midsize sedan, the TSX also helps to bridge the gap between TSX and TL in the model lineup. The TSX V-6 will be offered exclusively with Acura's Sequential SportShift automatic, meaning steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters will have to quench enthusiasts' yearnings for a manual gearbox -- at least for now.
With the new V-6 comes a retuned suspension. The basic TSX configuration remains -- double wishbones up front and a multilink rear setup -- but the V-6 variant will receive exclusive specifications aimed at providing a sportier experience than the standard TSX. Additionally, 18-in., split five-spoke aluminum alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot all-season tires, will distinguish the TSX V-6 model from the four-cylinder variant, as well as providing sharper turn-in and crisper handling. Other than the rolling stock and a V-6 badge, the exterior will be identical to that of its sibling.
Inside the TSX V-6, luxury still hasn't been banished in the name of performance and the standard equipment list is significant. A leather-upholstered interior, power moonroof, automatic climate control, premium seven-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, and auxiliary jack music interface are all no-cost items on the spec sheet. As with the base model car, stepping up to the Acuralink navigation system with rear-view camera and Acura/ELS Surrround premium stereo will require the optional Technology Package.
Acura says that respective to the upscale migration of the TL sedan, its new TSX V-6 is aimed "squarely at youthful buyers who want a performance-oriented sports sedan in a more personal size." Does Acura's German competition have cause for concern? We'll have to wait and see.

So, now with two drive trains, the chances of a TSX diesel have probably gone from slim to none.
I'm not sure Acura was looking to have the TSX the volume leader in the brand but that's what's likely to happen. Acura's 3 series if you will.

What were you expecting? An MT would have been nice but other than that its what we should have expected. The car has a revised suspension and beefed up brakes as well. Although an LSD should have been added.
Wonder what the weight is.

Although no 6MT is disappointing, I am guessing that maybe they are making a Type S with 6MT, sportier suspension, and perhaps with SHAWD? American Acura executives probably had their say again in this decision.
Can't they just put in the 6MT from the TL type S?

Even one of the admin (notyper) refuses to post there anymore. That just shows what an effing joke that site has become.
I only go there for the high resolution pictures since TOV seems to get those. But as far as the press releases and stuff, AZ members can find those from other sources beside TOV.
And finally, the layout is absolutely terrible.[/rant/

[rant]Um, "negative" on TOV is saying something that doesn't worship Honda/Acura. The majority of posters there are retarded and can't follow a logical argument to save their lives. You are labeled a troll if you don't lick Honda/Acura's ass in your post.
