Thank you!
Having choices is good... but in BMW's case, they are making huge amount of $ in the case of giving customers choices.

Let's just say. You have the standard brake (single piston), then you have the M sport brake (silver, 4 piston, brembo looking), then you have the M performance Brake (blue), then you have some other M brake that is orange, yellow (port install option)
Some of them are available only for the 6 cylinder models and but not for 4 cylinder ones.

Confused yet? So you are not going to find out much from the website. Since M performance brakes have so many different brakes

Well, according to many, the top level trims of the Sonata, Accord, Camry, etc. compete against the likes of the TLX.

after next few months there wont be anything left from Hyundai for brag about.

https://www.reuters.com/article/brie...-idUSB9N1IH02NBRIEF-Honda says May China vehicle sales +16.2 pct y/y

Honda is reentering europe with much more premium brand.

https://www.motor1.com/news/147051/p...honda-clarity/

Honda Opens Europe?s Most Advanced Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station The News Wheel

you know the drill
Yeah, the drill of Honda sales continuing to decline in Europe.

May sales -

Honda - 9,950 (-14.5%)
YTD - 61,713 (-12.3%)

Hyundai - 45,325 (+8.3%)

Heck, Kia vastly outsells Honda in Europe - 40,415

YTD H/K - 418,451 (outselling Honda by nearly 8x)

But that's all neither here nor there as doesn't involve Acura or sales of other luxury brands.

Here's something relevant...

While many Genesis buyers come from inside the Korean automaker’s family – most directly from Hyundai – Lexus owners represent the largest segment – 30% – of conquest buyers to the brand, followed by BMW (15%), Cadillac and Mercedes-Benz (both 11%). Acura, Audi, Infiniti and Lincoln buyers make up the balance of conquest buyers.

Buyers largely are white, male, college-educated and older than 50, with median household incomes touching $145,000, but Raphael is quick to point out the Genesis brand is reaching out to all potential luxury buyers and welcomes everyone interested in the products and able to afford the vehicles.

Not surprisingly, the FWD-based brands and the smaller RWD player (Genesis has yet to launch the G70 which will compete in the same space as Infiniti's best seller, the Q50) make up a smaller portion of conquest sales.

Honda & Acura Trucks Combine for New June Record; New Performance Products Energize Both Brands

Jul 3, 2017 - TORRANCE, Calif.
  • American Honda trucks set new all-time June record, up almost 2%
  • Acura Division gains 23.7% in June with both cars & trucks rising in double digits
  • Acura TLX nets 12.9% increase as 2018 A-Spec performance model drives traffic
  • Acura RDX sets new June mark with 48.3% jump; MDX nets 14% increase
  • Honda HR-V sets all-time best June, advancing over 35%
  • Accord rises 3.4% and Civic tops 30,000 units as passenger cars remain strong
American Honda Motor Co., Inc. today reported total June sales of 139,793 Honda and Acura vehicles, an increase of 0.8 percent over June 2016. Honda and Acura Division trucks also combined for a new June record, gaining 1.9 percent on sales of 70,067 units, while combined car sales totaled 69,726, down a very slight 0.3 percent. Honda Division was down 1.3 percent on sales of 125,755 units, with trucks down 1.6 percent on sales of 60,500 units due to inventory issues, and cars down just 1 percent on sales of 65,255. Acura Division sales gained 23.7 percent in June, on sales of 14,038 vehicles, with trucks jumping 30.9 percent on sales of 9,567, and cars rising 10.6 percent on sales of 4,471 units.

Honda
Honda Division maintained a robust sales pace in June, nearly matching a notably strong June of 2016. Civic and Accord remain at the top of car sales charts, with Accord rising 3.4 percent in June and Civic again posting a strong month of over 30,000 units, boosted by the high performance halo of Type R. CR-V suffered slightly in June from low supply of higher trim availability, but HR-V set yet another record with its best June ever and Ridgeline gained in double digits, despite inventory issues with all-wheel drive models.
  • Continuing to assert its lead in the subcompact SUV segment, HR-V jumped 35.1 percent in June, with 8,872 units sold.
  • Accord pushed against the tide again in June, gaining 3.4 percent on sales of 29,791 vehicles, building momentum for the fall debut of the just-announced 2018 Accord.
  • With 30,909 Civics sold in June, the #1 selling car in the U.S. combined with #2 Accord to exceed 60,000 units for the month, the top 1-2 passenger car duo in the industry.
  • Civic Type R proved popular in its first month, with sales topping 550 units in 2 weeks.
  • Odyssey got off to a strong start, with sales of 11,146 units making it #1 in segment.
"Against a sea of competitors clinging to market share via heavy incentives and fleet sales, Honda's success is driven by retail customers attracted to a cadence of strong new products," said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division. "Although the market is catching its breath, we're injecting new energy with models like the incredible new Civic Type R and we're not done yet in 2017, with a new Accord on the way."

Acura
Acura had a notably strong month of June driven by renewed focus on product that reflects the brand's Precision Crafted Performance direction. Notably, the recently revitalized TLX and new MDX Sport Hybrid earned considerable positive attention, helping boost the division 23.7 percent for the month. TLX led Acura car sales with a 10.6 percent increase in June, while RDX led Acura trucks to a 30.9 percent gain.
  • The new TLX A-Spec is a sought-after model at Acura dealers, helping overall TLX sales gain 12.9 percent on sales of 3,175 units for the month.
  • RDX set a new all-time June record with a 48.3 percent leap on sales of 5,327 units.
  • MDX had a strong June, posting 4,210 sales for an increase of 14 percent.
  • ILX sales rose 6.9 percent on sales of 1,191 units, its best month of 2017.
  • Adding emphasis to Acura's performance path, one of Michael Shank Racing's NSX GT3 cars won at Watkins Glen on Sunday, its second consecutive victory in the IMSA series.
"In a challenging luxury automotive marketplace, reshaping our products around the performance direction of the Acura brand is clearly resonating with luxury car and truck buyers," said Jon Ikeda, vice president & general manager of the Acura division. "The A-Spec variant has put TLX back on the luxury performance sedan map, while the sporty virtues of MDX and RDX continue to speak for themselves in strong sales."

The attitude on this board about the TLX facelift is clearly reflected in reviews and sales. Now it's up to Ikeda and company to take the next step and fix what's under the hood.

3,175. Not bad I suppose though I was expecting more.

It's good that they beat the 2,812 in June 2016, but they didn't get close to the 3,986 sold in June 2015. They're not going to hit their 50,000 goal at this rate. Hopefully it was just an inventory issue that can be fixed by adjusting output to match demand for the desirable trims (A-Spec?)

http://www.autonews.com/article/20170703/RETAIL01/170709936/hyundai-kia-june-sales

Hyundai, including its luxury Genesis brand, saw June sales plummet 19 percent -- the largest monthly decline of the year -- while Kia dropped 10 percent.
The Hyundai division, as forecast by ALG, is the only major company besides Subaru to not increase its average transaction prices in June. The Korean automaker was down 3.8 percent compared with a year earlier to $22,600, while the industry was up 1.5 percent to $32,900. Kia was up 0.4 percent to $22,700.

I can also post links that make trump sound like a legitimate president. What's your point? Every article you post always talks about how badly H/K are doing, for at least the last 3 years... yet they're still around and they're putting out nicer and cooler cars every year.

I can tell you that in Europe, Hondas are rare. There is no lie when YEH says there are 8 to 1 Hyundais vs Hondas there.

Also, don't kid yourself on RLX profit margins. The discounts on that car are huge, anywhere you go. And they still barely manage to sell them, while 10 times as many Genesis go in the same time.

Also- although some H/K cars may be heavy, they're also built out of their very own steel. I'm sure there's a cost savings in there for them. Another thing Honda/Acura don't have.

Just go to show that acura should be bringing over the CDX into our market. It seems Infiniti's equivalent is selling quite well.

Yea, IMO that's the easiest way to increase overall sales. As of June 30th, it's 79000 units vs 73000 units. The QX30 alone added 9300 units for Infiniti.

What's interesting is that the full-size QX80 is also selling decently, with close to 10000 units so in the past 6 months.

Just realized Infiniti has 5 SUV's, combining for over 50000 units out of 79000 sold for the first half of 2017. It's a SUV company like Acura lol.

Honda Expects Facelifted 2018 Acura TLX to Sell Better than Ever

If Acura is going to be more than just a crossover brand, the 2018 Acura TLX must be the car that builds on past successes.

First, as always, Acura lacks the prestige of the truly premium brands with which it competes.

Yet more importantly, the Acura TLX’s exterior design caused the car to appear nonexistent. Oh, it was out there — Acura has already sold 119,253 TLXs in America. But there’s just nothing you can really say about the exterior design of a entry-luxury sedan that has very little styling to speak of. “Shoppers who rejected TLX often did so on the basis of the design not being aggressive enough for a sport sedan,” Acura spokesperson Matt Sloustcher told TTAC in April.

That, Acura hopes, is fixed for 2018. “We think the new design direction and especially the A-Spec will strengthen the product,” Sloustcher said.

Thus, after selling 44,829 TLXs in the model’s first twelve months, 47,080 in 2015, and 37,156 in 2016, Acura hopes to sell 50,000 TLXs per year.
and Acura TLX Refresh Breathes New Life Test Drives content from WardsAuto

In a smart move, the TLX’s new ad campaign flashes images of the NSX to highlight the cars’ performance linkages.

All the updates to the TLX make it fresher and more modern and should be helpful in spurring U.S. sales back near 50,000, which is Acura’s goal.

But it will be tough for the TLX to gain ground given the shrinking lower-luxury car segment (down 9.1% last year and 11.3% through April), the popularity of luxury CUVs, and what more and more is looking like a prolonged downturn in U.S. new-vehicle sales.
or should I be referring to their 60,000 number: http://www.autonews.com/article/2014...ing-top-seller

Acura sees TLX being top seller

February 3, 2014

Acura says the new TLX sedan can become the brand's volume leader, a role once occupied by its predecessor, the TL sedan.

Recalling the days when annual TL sales consistently topped 60,000, John Mendel, American Honda's executive vice president of sales, said after Acura's make meeting here: "We can clearly see TLX adding that kind of volume to the Acura franchise."
60,000 per year?

Infiniti has basically been dumping their vehicles on fleet sales to rental car companies. They also market bottom-dollar leases far more than I've ever seen Acura do. Those are two ways to goose the numbers, but may not be sustainable in terms of building a loyal customer base and brand equity.

Strong Sales of Core Models Drive American Honda July 2017 Auto Sales - Sales - Honda News

Strong Sales of Core Models Drive American Honda July 2017 Auto Sales

Aug 1, 2017 - TORRANCE, Calif.
  • Honda Civic sets new July record, gaining 11.3%
  • Honda HR-V has hottest month on record as it jumps 32.3%
  • Honda core products Accord, Civic and CR-V all top 30,000 in sales in July
  • Acura Division rises 3.7% in July on gains from ILX and RDX
  • Acura trucks set new July record, rising 11.3% percent
  • Acura RDX sets new July mark with a strong 28.2% increase

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. today reported total June sales of 150,980 Honda and Acura vehicles, driven by the success of core models even as tight supplies of certain products contributed to a slight decrease of 1.2 percent vs. July 2016. Combined sales of Honda and Acura cars were up 1.9 percent on sales of 76,468, while combined trucks decreased 4.2 percent on sales of 74,512. Total Honda Division sales decreased 1.7 percent on sales of 136,803. Honda Division cars gained 2.8 percent with 72,557 vehicles sold in July, and Honda trucks were down 6.2 percent on sales of 64,246 units due mostly to limited inventory. Acura Division sales were up 3.7 percent in July on sales of 14,177 vehicles, with trucks rising 11.3 percent on sales of 10,266 for a new July record, and cars down by 12.2 percent on sales of 3,911 units.

Honda

Well-balanced sales of both cars and trucks were a familiar theme for the Honda Division in July. Despite tight supplies of Odyssey and certain CR-V, Pilot and Ridgeline models, Honda truck sales managed a solid showing against a record July 2016, with HR-V having its best month ever and CR-V surpassing 30,000 units for the month. Civic and Accord continued to show strength with sales above 30,000 units, with the hot new Civic Type R and Si variants bringing renewed energy to the showroom, helping overall Civic sales to a new July record.
  • HR-V set a new all-time monthly record, gaining 32.3 percent on sales of 9,779.
  • Civic sales reached 36,683 for a new July record, rising 11.3 percent for the month.
  • Accord continued to show strength in July, surpassing 30K sales for the month.

"Honda is the outlier in the industry in that we see solid demand for our products rather than demand for incentives to buy them," said Jeff Conrad, senior vice president of the Automobile Division of American Honda. "With models like Civic, Accord, CR-V, HR-V and Odyssey, each number one in their segments in retail sales for the first half of 2017, our position continues to get stronger."

Acura

Gateway models drove Acura's success in July, with RDX setting a new July mark to lift Acura trucks to a new record for the month, and ILX gaining 10 percent for the month as Acura's gateway sports sedan showed a second consecutive monthly increase. TLX continued to sell well in July with the A-Spec model drawing showroom interest, but tight supplies due to strong sales the past two months limited total TLX sales in July.
  • Acura trucks set new July mark, gaining 11.3 percent on sales of 10,266 vehicles.
  • RDX sales set a new July record with a 28.2 percent gain on sales of 5,539.
  • ILX sales rose for the second straight month, up 10.1 percent in July on sales of 1,322 units.

"In the face of increased fleet sales in the luxury market we continue to focus on the growing momentum of the Acura brand with retail customers," said Jon Ikeda, vice president & general manager of the Acura division. "We're excited with the drawing power of our products and the sales success of our gateway models to millennial buyers shows that our product and marketing direction is beginning to pay dividends."

2,495 TLX's sold in July 2017 vs 3,124 in July 2016.... down 20.13% year over year... Yeah. Definitely not going to hit that 50K sales goal.

We people buying ILX's instead? ILX sales up 121 units or 10.1% vs July 2016

We so hood. But, on the plus side, we got these golds up in our mouth. So that's nice.

I am surprised to see the new Oddy, and CRV all sold less than the old ones from 2016, especially the CRV.

There is a really clean, white, TSX Wagon just around the corner from my house.
Otherwise, I see considerably more TL & TLX than any other Acura cars up here. Probably 50/50 with MDX/RDX.

Looks is subjective but the car itself is better than the previous gen in every single measurable way and to be honest, the last gen was not a looker either with the bloated ass.
