New grille is coming dudes! Looks like JP had to intervene to save US design division's mess.

Also this looks like a Sport model. (SH-AWD by 2016?!)

Thoughts from an ilx owner.
I'm torn.
The grill isn't bad. I like mine more. But I'd love to swap back and forth.
New jewel eyes are awesome. I want.
Front bumper isn't bad. Little more aggressive but pretty similar. I'd rather my current front with the lip but I am interested in that one.

Rear. Fuck no. I always thought the ilx rear needed more but that was not what I wanted. Looks like the new civic cope front end thrown in the rear.
All they had to do was add a chrome strip over the camera and chrome lining for the reflectors with some led tails. End game. But nooooo. lol

The wheels look cool for oem. I prefer the 17in 5 spokes though still.

In the end. I want that front end. Rear end can play in traffic.

Hmm not bad. With that hood bulge and grille, the front end reminds me of the MazdaSPEED 6's.

i am curious what kind of pricing is on the 2.4 ILX now?

Acura priced the 2.4 TLX so low, i am not sure how they are going to price the ILX so customers will not say "Why would i want to get ILX when i can get TLX for the same price"

Acura Canada is offering a $3200 incentive on the ILX. The dealer that I visited a couple weeks ago can give me $5k in total ($3200 incentive, $1k loyalty incentive, $800 for demo vehicle). On top of that, there's a 0% lease offer. All said and done I can get an ILX tech for CAD$27k + freight and tax. Leasing based on that amount would be about CAD$370/month tax included for 48 months.

For comparison, TLX base I4 starts at CAD$35k. Leasing for 48 months with $0 down would be CAD$542/month.

2016 Acura ILX teased for L.A., company promises big changes

The Acura ILX has failed to live up to its Civic duty, so Acura has announced plans to introduce a "substantially new" model at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The company was coy on specifics but confirmed the 2016 ILX will receive a "comprehensive update that includes a potent new powertrain, more forceful, sporty exterior styling, and substantially upgraded interior design." Acura also said we can expect "high-value comfort, convenience and safety features."
That's a little vague but American Honda executive vice president John Mendel has previously called the car's entry-level 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine - that develops 150 bhp (112 kW) and 190 Nm (140 lb-ft) of torque - "underpowered." This likely means the "potent new powertrain" will be substantially more powerful than its predecessor.
The 2016 Acura ILX will be unveiled on November 20th, so stay tuned for full details.

Acura Media Newsroom - Headlines - Catch the Debut of the 2016 Acura ILX at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show

10/20/2014 - TORRANCE, Calif.
Acura is preparing to unveil a substantially new 2016 ILX at the L.A. Auto Show next month as the brand aims to raise the stakes again in the entry-premium sedan segment. Already bringing in more buyers under the age of 35 to the segment than any other entry-premium model, the new 2016 ILX stands to solidify and broaden its appeal with a comprehensive update that includes a potent new powertrain, more forceful, sporty exterior styling, and substantially upgraded interior design.
Much like its hot new stable mate—the brand new TLX—the 2016 ILX will bring a sharper performance focus while delivering a greater set of high-value comfort, convenience and safety features that consumers desire in the increasingly competitive entry-luxury field.
Catch the unveiling of the ILX on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the Acura booth at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

We don't have to guess. It is kinda obvious. I really do not think ILX will be the first one to receive Turbo if Acura ever put Turbo in their current lineup.

Basically you are looking at a smaller TLX 2.4 FWD.. probably 2 or 3 thousands cheaper.

Current ILX owners will be happy with the upgrade, but there are only so little of them.

I have a feeling that it is going to compete with TLX more than it does with other brand.

Don't agree.
They are speaking about "performance" not about efficiency.
I think there will be a more powerful engine.

I agree with oonowindoo that the new powertrain is the 2.4L 8DCT combo from the TLX with or without a slightly different tune.

I highly doubt the ILX will come with Vtec Turbo. I'd think we would hear a lot more about that if the ILX were to come with a VTEC Turbo engine.

Good luck with SH-AWD. At best, we will see P-AWS.

The main goals of this MMC is to make the exterior less bland, improve feature content and luxury feel, and improve the performance of the automatic trim significantly.

That teaser picture looks promising. So that should fix the first issue.

Second issue, we will see.

The 2.4L 8DCT is good enough to propel the 3500lb TLX from 0-60mph in less than 7 seconds. A ILX with 500lb less weight should be in the low 6's range. That would be more than adequate for an entry luxury sedan in the sub $30k range IMO.

The 2.4 8DCT combo in

Reading this about the upcong ILCKS hurts...

Updated 2016 Acura ILX To Debut At Los Angeles Auto Show

Acura had high hopes for its newest gateway vehicle, the ILX compact sedan, which was introduced at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The idea behind its creation seemed logical enough: by basing an Acura model on the Honda Civic, the automaker could lower the price of entry and attract a younger, hipper audience to the brand.

What the automaker didn’t count on was the likes of Mercedes-Benz and Audi entering the segment with compact sedans of their own, priced just a couple of grand higher than the ILX. Acura attempted to tempt buyers with a few sweeteners for 2014 but now a much more substantial update is coming.

Yes, Acura has confirmed that for the 2016 model year the ILX will receive some styling updates, a new powertrain and a substantially upgraded interior. Acura also released this teaser image of its 2016 ILX, which shows new graphics and clear lenses for the tail-lights.

The ILX currently offers the choice of 2.0- or 2.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engines. A hybrid option was available at launch but dropped for the 2015 model year.

Honda/Acura totally underestimating their competition and market? HORY SHET...have we seen this movie before?

We'll see what the price range is for the quicker ILX. I'll be slightly upset if its shy of 30,000 but even then I got a new car when it was time. I couldnt have waited 2-3 years if I wanted to. Oh well. At least it looks like I can steal the heads and tails from the new gen. That'll make me happy.

I think the only question now is will the 2.4 DCT be the only powertrain offering? or will the base model continue with the 2.0L? Maybe paired with a CVT?

Yah, technically TLX's DI 2.4 and 8 dct combo is a new powertrain. Potent is just a subjective marketing term.

also the 2.4 does not have enough power/torque to drag the SHAWD, otherwise it would have been available in TLX as well.

When miracle happens that Acura/Honda finally decided to bring the Turbo 4 over, i would think that is going to be in the Type S or something equivalent. Not in their cheapest car in the whole lineup.

When the turbo 4 arrives, the NSX would've been released already.

The new tail lights look pretty good. Glad they're putting something a little more flashy on there. Too bad theres no mention of improvements to the NVH, which seems to be the complaint about the ILX in most reviews. Probably not enough budget to do that with the other enhancements.

^ This.

2.4 8-DCT with 200+hp in a car that is less than 3000lb is more than competitive against CLA250 or A3 1.8T. The TLX 2.4 is just as fast as the A3 1.8T so most likely the ILX will be comfortably faster if that powertrain does carry over.

If the VTEC turbo does make its debut in the ILX, I'd think it's the 1.5T version that is good for about 200hp.

I understand what the article is saying, and I agree that the ILX is below par, especially in the looks, power department, and brand recognition. But to be fair, the ILX is more like $3k cheaper, rather than "a couple grand." On top of that, using the base CLA250 as an example, it doesn't have things like heated seats, leather interior, moonroof, dual zone AC, rear cam. Similarly equipped, it's closer to $35k, as opposed to $27k.
