Currently, i am running 2-10w3 JL Audio subs in a powerwedge box, which is powered by a JL Audio 500/1. I got them very cheap since one of my best friends works at GoodGuys, and buys me shit under his discount.

I was at his store a couple of weeks ago and he bumped a one 10w7 for me. GOD DAMN!! I am not exaggerating when i say that the entire store was shaking. One ten inch subwoofer pushing 500watts. It was amazing. The only problem was that the box it comes in will not fit due to the navigation, and I am not fucking with relocating the unit.

After some think and talking to my buddy, we came up with a solution. He is going to take the subs i currently have (since it was bought under his name) and exchange them under warranty for a 1-10w7 (w/o box), equal exchange. We did the math and its a very good deal because the store's cost for the W7 is more than what my current subs retail for.

I was going to build a box for it, but then started talking to the install guy. He works at GoodGuys 3 days a week, and does side jobs in his time off. He showed me some pics of a couple of his jobs, and they are pretty damn good.

To make a long story short, he is going to trick out my trunk. He is gonna make angled shelves on each side. One side for the amp and cap, and the other side for some video shit. One the side with the video stuff, he is going to make a hidden compartment which will hold the NOS bottle I am getting very soon (but that's ompletely different story )

I'm so sick of this W7 hype. Just to let you know, the Image Dynamics 10" woofer will be coming out shortly, and it blows away JL. A Adire Audio Brahma does the same. Exept they both are much cheaper. The Brahma is gonna run you about 280, and the ID doesnt have a pronounced price yet, however the 12" was 400 so u can take as good of a guess as i can. GL and try to stay away from Good Guys installers, looks dont mean shit, all audio is 70% install. D

 

I've heard them all.....the W7 is better than all of them. JL quality is top notch with the trophies to prove it!!!

 

Thank you! I listened to almost every high-end sub on the market, and nothing even comes close to putting out the sound the JL 10w7 puts out. If it made the store shake (not even full power), I can't even imagine what its going to sound like inside the car.

 

Everyone thinks that I have two 12"s......when they see one 10", thier jaw drops!!!!!!

 

The JL W7 10" motor is too small. All of JL's subs are "boomy". And if you have heard all high end then you know JL really doesnt have much. Go to a real sq competition and see who is winning. JL hasnt one anything special, they are just a pyle of hype. JL is far from high end, if anything lower to med mainstream. Even kicker L7 has a sub louder, and people claim the W7 is sooo loud, get real, get with the program.

 

ya, theyre loud subs........but the sq compared to other loud subs sucks........i'd rather go with the quality my eclipse's have over any jl ANYDAY!
