Questions about audio setup

First of all, this is a question aimed for any car not just a TL. I am looking at a set up with a box that holds 2 10 inch subs. It comes with one Rockford Fosgate amp(unknown wattage) and ONE Coustic sub(about 750 watts). My questions are as follows:

Guy is asking $70. Good or bad deal?

For the second sub, if i get a different brand sub with a different wattage is it going to sound like crap?

How can i find the wattage of the amp? I already looked on the amp itself and online with no luck.

Thanks!!!

Don't buy it... Go get some good quality stuff if you want to add subs. And yes, putting 2 different subs in 1 box will sound terrible. So just don't do it...

Whats the model # of the amp. Almost any RF is worth the 70 as long as it works. And I agree with matt 2 diffent subs in the same box will not sound good. One will almost always sound beter making the other really stand out,in a bad way.

lol then u need to get something different. like matt said mixing subs will most likely sound like trash. I have heard a jl and kicker sub sound ok together but not great. u must remember ur definition of good bass and quality is gonna be different than others with more experiance in the audio world. but just do what ever you like buy it if you like it then good if not try to sell it. nuff said

Is one good sub hooked up with a good amp enough to sound good in a car as big as a TL? Because I will just look for a good 1 and 1 setup is it is. Thanks again.

Check out Fi subs. There great, and they make something for everybody.Fi Q's for SQ.Fi Bl's all around sub for everyday beating.Fi BTL for SPL.Everyone will tell you they handle more than there rated.I've never heard anything bad about them. The only people that hurt these subs are people that try driving them with double/triple what there rated. And there rebuildible. So if you do smoke one it about a $100+/- for a recone.https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraud...dex.shopscript

If your looking into a sub and amp.Iwould just delete the factory sub set up.Cuz in my opion any aftermarket sub and amp combo will sound beter than the weak stock sub set up.This is my opion, wait for others to chime in for more help. If you dont mind taking up trunk space go with a single 15 that will be all you need unless your a bass freak.Like some of us

Fi is a good company. Also check out AudioQue, Digitial Designs (if you're looking for straight up loud as hell subs), DC Audio, Revolution Designs, Resonant Engineering. Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head that will do very well in a single sub setup.

Do a single good 10 or 12, and be done with it... Get rid of the factory sub (it's going to be worthless anyway) and get a single good sub with good power, and you'll be fine. My new build is going to be either a single 10 or single 12 on ~1200-1500w...

AudioQue SDC2.5. It should be better and can handle up near 1000w if done correctly... Also look at the RD Sonances, DD 1500 series, DC lvl3s, RE SEx, etc. You can do much better than Kicker, trust me...

In my 00' TL im running a single kicker CVX 15" with a kicker zx1000, 3.5 cu.ft. and can still store stuff in the trunk and get my spare out & hit over 140db w/good sound quality. Kicker isnt bad stuff but for the price u can get way better sound & quality. Once all my kicker stuff sales im going with all diamond.

Greenwood, I'm with you. Kicker's not bad stuff, but like you said, you can do much better. Also, what meter is that 140 on? I had a single 12 ported in about 2.25 cubes and couldn't get over a 39... Given, you have more cone area and a larger box so it should be quite a bit louder, but you have less power than I did with that setup.

Oh yeah. I let one guy listen to my 12" Alpha and he thought I had a couple 15's... It was great. Didn't meter as well as I would have liked, but it was tuned low and played music like no other... That's what it was built to do, and that's what it did very well... I'm hoping to get the same thing again but with a single 10 or maybe if I have to go back with another 12, I'll do it. This build is going to be more interesting than any one I've done to this point.

It's a shame that Icon isn't a dual 1... Then you could have some fun with that SAZ... They do better under 1 ohm anyway...

Just 1 extra batt... I talked to a guy that's done extensive testing with Sundown amps, and he said if I were to run the 1500D that I had below 1 ohm daily (I was going to run at .5 daily) that I would only need 1 extra battery, and a decent alt to do so... And that was an old heatsink 1500D. So for a SAZ-1000, you should only need an extra batt or a solid alt to run below 1 ohm. If you're using a poorly designed box (or sealed) you might not even need that due to impedance rise...
