purchased new components for the fronts....

boston acoustics pro series (6.5)....let me tell you....I absolutely love the sound. had to use a 3/4 inch spacer and had to cut the bottom part of the door where the speaker mounts. but it was all worth it. 5 hrs of labor of love and well worth the $397 i spent for it. i thought the tweeters being aluminum would be to harsh...but nah...they sound great and crisp. i highly recommend these speakers for those who don't want to spend too much (although $400 is quite a bit for speakers.....but I LOVE THEM).

What part of the door are you talking about...the mettle or the plastic on the door panel its self? Do you have pics?

i am using a jl 300/4 to power them. nola...i completely removed the plastic cup holding the old bose speakers. i had to cut about a quarter of an inch at the bottom of the hole, then just bent it inwards to accomodate the speaker connectors of the bostons. as my spacer, i used to have infinity's mounted using the 1/2 plastic spacer that came with it. i used that and the 1/4 inch spacer that came with the bostons and it's pretty sturdy and solid.

Ok so the 3/4" spacer will clear the plastic door panel??? I was useing a 1/2" spacer and that would just barely be enough room...so I wanted to try and figure out if I could go to a 3/4" or maybe even a 1" to get the magnet as far away as possidle form the window when its down.

How did you attach the spacers to the door???

went to home depot and bought 2 inch screws. i had to drill a couple of holes to make the spacers more secure.

ok so you just drilled through the spacers into the door itself...I did that last time but this time I was thinking about trying to use silicon...do you think silicon would hold???

if your going to use this for your cdts, i think the cdts would be too heavy for the silicone. you can put the silicone just to sorta be like a filler if you have any spaces btwn the spacer and the metal of the door. i would still use screws to make everything more secure. just my opinion.
