Pics of my DIY DLS system

Ok, here goes:

System Specs
2 x DLS UR12 subs
1 x DLS RA10 amp (800 x 1 @ 1ohm) for subs
1pr x DLS UP6 components for front
1pr x avincar 5" mids for rear doors
1 x DLS RA40 amp (70 x 4 @ 4ohms) for speakers
Lotsa VMAX sound dampening material

ICE
2 x 8" Visor screens
2 x 7" Headrest screens
Navi screen conversion
Soundgate adapter with navi conversion
Blaupunkt DVD-ME3

I did everything myself except for the bare sealed box which was built by Buzz-Off (a local company). I have to say the system sounds great, much better then before. Thanks to elduderino for picking out the goods.

Now for some pics:

Ya think thats enough VMAX?!

The factory rear mids on the left and avincar 5" mids on the right.

Heres what the general design looks like.

All the wood is laid out and the false floor is done.

The things that go boom-boom.

Their cage is carpeted and the monsters go in. I removed the navi player and mounted in directly to the top of the box cause the bracket was too low to fit a decent sized box.

0/1 guage wire!! That shit is thick!

Heres the UP6 component and tweeter mounted.

I spliced so many friggin wires in there its not funny.

All done! There was supposed to be a 13" LCD in the middle, like in the first pics, but the piece of shit just stopped working so I dunno what to put their. The boxes on the sides are the crossovers for the UP6.

Theres a close up of the fuses/voltage display and bass control.

At night.

Navi screen conversion and looky the soundgate works!

Just a couple screens.

Great job...man. Looks phat

How did you get monitors in the headrests/visors?
Did you buy replacements or mold them into the current ones?

Where did you mount the DVD player?

Also, just noticed that you put the bass knob next to the trunk lock. You might wanna put it somewhere that you can reach it while driving. I adjust mine all the time while I drive.

Thanks guys. The subs are quite heavy at just under 30lbs each. I bought replacement headrests and visors since the factory headrest is too small to fit a decent sized monitor. I have the DVD player behind the rear seats for now. I want to mount it somewhere within easy reach but Im still trying to find where. I thought about under the passengers seat but theres not enough clearence. And the system sounds great!

Very nice! I bet it sounds good. You definately have enough monitors. The only way to get more video displayed in that thing is to remove the windshield and insert a 50" flat screen. Then add a camera in your grill so you can use split screen when you're driving.

What color interior do yo have?

Where did you find headrest and visor monitors that matched the interior. I have quartz interior aka Gray and I'm looking to find a good match.

I have black interior and got the screens online. The black headrests match perfect but the grey visors are a little darker but not very noticible. Where did you mount your bass control? I can reach down and adjust mine while driving without a problem. And yeah, I did the install and ill be 19 next month. It took a lot a planning and replanning and it came out better then I expected. The connections to the OEM amp harness were a pain in the ass cause I soldered and heat-shrinked all connections. Also getting the wood to sit flush to the curves and contour of the trunk was time consuming and you can see in the pics I used cardboard to get an idea of the design.

^^ My bass knob is smaller. I have it in one of the empty panels next to the LED for my alarm and my bluetooth kit control. Yours looks a lot bigger, but you still might be able to find a spot under the dash or maybe even inside "NOT AN ASHTRAY"

I only have 1 screen but here are some more pics:

What? No X-box? Dunno how involved it would be, but that would be one cool multiplayer setup. Aside from that, That is an awesome friggin install

I can't remember a better DYI install (in terms of looking clean) in any car - congrats on your fine work.

I am actually having an all DLS system put in my TL by Street in about 3 weeks so I will be joining the club any week now (minus the video).

If you don't mind me asking, how much were the headrest screens and where did you get them?

btw. I have a TSX as well and I'll be looking into upgrading my speakers, a new amp to power everything, my 2 10" woofers, Navi to DVD Conversion w/ PS2, and maybe headrest monitors. Yous look great!

I like where your bass control is but I cant mount mine like that. I tried it in the "not an ashtray" thingy but it just didnt look right in there.

If I had an Xbox it would be in there already lol.

DLS is a great club to be in

Ill get some daytime pics of the monitors tomoro if I remember. They are great quality (so far) for the price. I paid just under $300 shipped for the pair and I got them from www.mp3playerstore.com through ebay.

I saw a nice X-box install mounted in the dash. The casing was removed and all you could see is the Disk tray with the X-box logo

I have the UP6 components in my TSX also and I must say they sound great!! You must get a whole lot of bump from those subs, because I only have one 10" in the back and its pretty good already!
