Need Some Advice On installing new system

Hey all what's up?

Okay i have been thinking of instead of doing any mods with the engine, worry about the audio/video(don;t know why). I was thinking of adding two MTX 8000 series 12" subs. Too power the two subs,i was thinking of getting a Alpine MRV-1507. they would take care of the two subs and leave room for future subs. Subs i was planning on adding one to each back seat. As for the other mid range and tweekers, I was thinking of replacing rear 6x9s with Kenwood KFC-6907's. I would need the specs for the other speakers in the car, i know there is 2 in each door but not sure what size.

I also would like to replace the head unit with Kenwood eXcelon KVT-910DVD, which is the pop up display, what i want to know is with any of these plans i am thinking of doing, will it void the warrenty and can i switch them back out when i need to return the car and cover all the steps i did. if the pop-up display doesn;t work out, I was thinking of going with streeteffectz moniters in the visor set up they have, one fore each visor.

This is my plan for taking the stocks out, tell me what you guys think and if i have to change anything, i am willing to take suggestions y'all might make to make this run better, smoother and sound good.

thanks,
Dantes

the head unit, just remember what I told you, you'll need a customized face plate since there is none avai. Yes, you can always reverse the process just make sure you save all the stock park and not to cut the wires (but you can split it. split leaves very little marking.) As far as warranty goes, they can void anything that's not directly connected to the stereo stuff such as sunroof, wiper so dont venture out to the fuse box. keep all your connections behind the head unit. I have a good news for you, motorized monitor will definately worked (at least in my car )

that would be great if i do go through with this if i could get some help from you, would really need it and don;t want to fork out another few hundred for pro installion. But i have been thinking and instead of going with the in dash HU, i think i will go with the SE 6.4 or 7" monitor in the visor and stay with the In-dash 6 cd changer, and then replace the stocks and add the two MTX 8000 12"s againist the back seat and reinforce the amps to the sides of the trunk. I am more determined on this idea, then they in-dash head unit. Thanks for the info on the speaker measurements to silverK gl with your project. later

I sure as hell hope you remember it wrong. I was told flat out that they were 6.5" in the doors starting in 2001. If not, my Utopias are going to create a hell of a problem.

how are you gonna send the video signal to those monitor? how are you gonna send audio signals to the speakers? I dont like the idea of playing DVD sound through FM modulator. The sound will be as good as VHS. If you wanna play DVD, I think it's better to go with direct connection. just IMO

The mids in the doors are 6.5". 6x9s in the rear. The biggest thing to watch for is the mounting depth for all locations. It all depends on how much you want to modify the stock openings/brackets.

You guys are VERY confused. Stock we have 5.25 SilverKnight was right. You can make a 6.5" fit there with a little modification. (thats what im doing)

The 6.5 Utopias have a huge mounting depth. Good luck.

Dantes The only advice that I have for you, is to stay away from the Kenwood KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) series, they sound like shit. The stock speakers would be better left in, if that is your choice for replacement.
I installed two sets of those speakers in a car for a friend. He wanted to save some money, well it definately sounds like he LOST some money when you listen to those speakers.

It depends on how you measure it man...Hondas/Acuras typically have what is measured as 6 1/2" speakers in the doors. Ask your local installer...look in Crutchfield...heck, it's even in the CL brochure I still have. It's just that the actual speaker cone is scrawny and typical of the OEM crap, so it looks like an aftermarket 5 1/4" driver. LOL. But don't take my word for it...like I said, check all the references.

LOL! That's what always popped in my mind when I see that KFC on the Kenwoods. I had a set of those in my 94 Integra...it really didn't sound much better than stock. I'd get some Sonys before I get Kenwood...the Sonys actually sound ok.
