Need info before replacing OEM CD changer

After constant jammed discs, I'm getting ready to buy a new CD player for my 03 CL. Have a few questions before I look into anything.

First off, I'd like to be able to keep my steering wheel controls when I swap over a new unit. Do I really need any special adapter, or can I just plug in and go?

Also, as far as sound quality, I hear that with the 2g CL, you need to either upgrade and buy new speakers (I believe the OEM ones are 2 ohm? I need 4 ohm, apparently) either buy new speakers or use this adapter:

http://www.crutchfield.com/p_127SOEM4/PAC-SOEM-4.html?tp=5684&nvpair=AG_Size|FFDouble%40DIN

Anyone ever had any experience with this? Is it really a scenario of "buy upgraded speakers OR use the adapter"? I ask because from the reviews on that, it looks like it's really hit or miss. Some say they got along fine without it, but has anyone ever had any experience with this, specifically when swapping units on a 2g CL?

yea your right the OEM speakers are 2 ohm and I cant get my new deck to play anything right now. I guess that I am going to have to wait a week untill I replace the stock speakers.

Really? Doesn't play anything? Like, does it still hook up, or do you need the adapter there to even connect it all?

Just curious, some of the reviews on that page say they had a better experience leaving the adapter out

Hey everyone, I'm actually brand new to the CL Community (just signed up today).

I had a similar problem with my mazda 626, bose speaker/amps use low impedeace so what you need to use is a LLC to convert the signal.

Some years back I wrote this little How to on it, http://www.mazda626.net/topic/30215-...page__hl__bose

I imagine you'll need a 03 CL specific wiring diagram, but in theory the same methodology should work perfectly. All your doing is converting a standard 4 ohm signal to the bose/JBL 2 ohm signals.

Once you do that it will work perfectly

Oh I see what you guys are saying my mistake, probably what happened is you left out the signal that turns on the amp sometimes those are not carried over by the aftermarket wiring harness meaning you need to cut one wire and bypass it before it goes into your wiring harness.
