Hi everyone, the timing belt snapped on my 2014 RDX. I’ve been quoted $5500 CAD for a new engine. It has 308k kms on it and is worth about $4000 if it was running. I love this car and wanna fix it up. Any opinions?
Depends on how it was maintained before the belt breaking and how long you plan on keeping it afterwards. When last was the timing belt replaced??
thank you for your response. It was well maintained before and I intend to keep it as long as I can. My last belt was replaced with pumps and pulleys 15k kms ago. It was a Continental belt from rock auto and it shredded. My mechanic said the pump and pulleys all look good and might have been a counterfeit

It looks like a heavy oil pump leak destroyed the belt.
Whether to replace the valves or the engine is up to you. But if there are no other issues with the car, I would keep it.
