light green wire @ factory amp

does anybody know what the light green (sheilding) wire is supposed to be for. I am getting a slight engine noise after I hooked up aftermarket amps by getting the signal from the low level inputs to the factory amp from the factory head unit. I will call/ email pioneer when I get a chance also.
I'm hoping its something I can splice to signal wires to cancel the engine noise. sounds weird but you never know unless you ask.

check your ground cable. Make sure it is as short as posible. A ground loop isolator from Radio Shack could also get rid of it. The shielding wire is probably for the stock amp and it's not gonna help you. I seriously doubt that Pioneer would respond to your question since the stock amp is Bose. Anyway, good luck.

If I didnt have navigation I would do the same thing...I just dont want to lose the voice prompters from the navigation system. My friends trip out when they hear the system speak! Its also part of what sold me the car.

I think you should give the ground loop isolator a chance. So far it solved alternator noise problem in 3 CLs that I worked on.

Well Radio Shack didn't have any but I went to Fry's electronics and got a couple of ground loop isolators and WHOA !!! What a difference! There's absolutely no noise even with the A/C on. I was sceptacle at first because I've tried these with other cars and it never worked...but for some reason it works on our cars. maybe because I used the low level inputs. I went to a car audio shop that I used to work at and they said those wouldn't work and they'll just make the noise clearer, but these absolutely eliminated the noise. These are made by P.I.E.
Thanks for the advice Silver!
