JL 10W7 or ALPINE Type-X SWX-1042D

Thinking of changing my setup from 1 15L7 to 1 or 2 high end 10s...

Which sub is better in your opinion??

This is the New ALpine X series 10inch

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-yYkFE6t...p?i=500SWX1042

OR the JL 10W7 ???

Thanks

I would pick the 10W7.

What's wrong with the 15L7? That's considered a "high-end" sub. I have a 12L7 and I wouldn't mind having the 10L7 to save on space.

W7 all the way...I am yet to hear a sub that can really compete.

and did you see the sensitivity for the Alpine??? 81DB!!!! You will have to give it 1000+ watts at least.

Yeah, I noticed that too. That must be the lowest sensitivity I've ever seen on any kind of speaker. I hope that's a typo.

I am a huge Alpine freak, I have spx components all around in my car and I have heard the SWX woofer and it was impressive. Alpines awesome. BUT the W7 will kick its ass
W7 all the way. THe W7 is one woofer I that I personally think beats all. Make sure you give the W7 enough power and the right enclousure. I put my w7 in a ported box and it sounds awesome.

OK W7 it is.. =) you think 1 10 is enough to compensate my 15L7 bass?? how many CUBIC FEET

does the 10w7 need??

My 15L7 is ok... but it bottoms out if i put the gain too high. Its supposed to be rated at 1000WRMS

right? and my amp is rated at 1000W RMS at 2 ohms.

I want to make a box that is 30"W X 14" D X 14" H which will fit perfect in the raised part of my

trunk.

my 10w7 makes everything on the outside rattle. roof of the car, trunk, rear 1/4 panels, license plate area. it sounds very clean but hits nicely.

an audio shop made my box to tuck in my trunk behind the passenger side back seat. i will try to get the dimensions. they even went as far as using 1 inch all the way around mdf.

I have a single RF 12" DVC putting out I believe 300-400watts. It thumps pretty good. But, if I had the money to spend, I'd go for the w7. It doesn't take alot of power to push the sub...same goes for my RF
