Hooking up sub with original Wire?

Hey all of you that have hooked up a sub to the stock hu in the car, did you use the orignal sub wire that is in the trunk and just add an amp to it and a nice new sub? Thats what i would like to do, because it would be so easy......any help would be appreciated. Thx

Pat

Well I replaced the stock sub with a 10" free-air sub in the stock location and powered it with an aftermarket amp. I tapped into the stock sub input for the signal. It's somewhat simple to do but it requires cutting your rear deck, something you can undo once you commit to it.
