Has Anyone Tried Boston Acoustics Amps

The specs look really good. One ebay ad says the same company that builds the JL amps, not sure if that is true or not. More specifically, I am looking at the GT-40. It can be bridged to run 2 ohms mono. Something almost no other amp does.

The only spec I see is the S/N ratio & that is "A Weighted"!! That would make me very leary.

They are supposed to be pretty good amps... but I don't know of any association with JL.

But they seem overpriced, unless prices have eroded.

2 ohms bridged is not good or bad, it just is. Used to be more popular to take a 1 ohm load non-bridged, but in truth it just doesn't sound that good.

Would an 8 ohm load be better? It seems like I am down to two amps. The JL 300/4 or the Boston GT-40. The JL will put 150 watts into 8 ohms. The Boston, 240 into 2 ohms.

My other choices are changing subs or buying multiple amps.

If you want to run a 2 ohm mono load, why not just buy a sub amp meant o run that impedance?

Why not go for a 3 channel or 5 channel amp?

Seems like you trying to work with that sub is a biatch. Buy the amp/amps that you want & will work, sell the sub & get one that fits the amp.

I actually listed the sub for sale yesterday. The downside is it is brand new. I just got it yesterday from Elemental. My big problem was assuming my Arc Audio 5150XXK would fit under the seat. It would not and thus the chaos begins. Oh well.

hey Acura, call Ben and the guys at ED and explain the situation to them, they may let you exchange the sub for a D2 which ought to solve alot of your problems

I might end of doing that. I have a lead on a 10" Adire Koda and I want it bad. I may end up putting the ED in the Pilot in place of the IDQ. At $115, I would prefer to keep it than take a huge loss on a brand new sub. If the Koda does not work out, I will talk with ED about it. Thanks for the suggestion.
