Finished System Upgrade in 01 CL-S
I know, first things first, where are the pictures? Well I JUST finished installing everything tonight so it is too dark, but half of it you can't see anyway.
I guess I will start from the rear... after MUCH debating, I ended up going with the Infinity Basslink. Install wasn't too bad, you just need to know a little electronics when wiring if you are using an aftermarket head unit like myself. But I must say for under $300 and not needing an enclosure or amp or too much else. This thing puts out nice bass. I barely adjusted the settings and it felt great. Now I just need to float through all my music to get the settings perfect, but I highly reccomend the basslink. It saved me trunk space and was very simple to install.
Now throughout the car I went with the AVINCAR speaker system sold by Ken. I would check out his site and give them a call. www.avincar.com Now these speakers sound AMAZING. I have never felt such a surround sound feeling in a car until I installed these. The highs and mids float together and they are crisp. But I must say, the low end was leaving me wanting something, hence the basslink.
And for the grand finale, up front is the Kenwood 7017 headunit. Plays DVD/MP3/CD. I think this unit makes the whole system sound perfect. It has a great builtin equalizer and system settings. I am slightly disappointed with visual effects though. It has no type of screensaver or oscillations at all which can be somewhat boring. But if the music sounds good or there is a DVD on, i doubt there will be much bickering.
All of this was installed by myself. I give thanks to Ken from AVINCAR for setting up a great combination of speakers and StreetEffectz for making a very professional dash insert for the Kenwood Units. I spent days installing everything because I am a perfectionist. On top of everything I sound dampened the back deck, trunk, rear seats, and doors. The inside is as close to perfect as you could want in a luxury car. Pictures will follow I promise.
