Easy fix for radio codes not working

I read a few posts on this site about error messages with radio codes, its hard to find an underground garage, you dont have to be totally underground, i live in Rockland county NY, i went to the palisades mall, there is a garage under the mall, its only 1 level below, i went deep into the lot and instantly my code worked, no need to take anything apart, you can even use a tunnel, NYC has many tunnels for those of you who live in NY area. I called the dealer and of course they said, its 100 dollars to fix!

i think this is a fluke. the radio doesn't communicate to acura headquarters or anything like that. the code is physically inside the unit and can't be changed. i can't see any reason why being underground would help you...

There is another thread on this. It is not a fluke. Basically the radio needs to not be receiving a signal. Going into an underground garage is the same as pulling the antenna cable.

Bottom line is the radio doesn't like radio waves when you enter the code.

Lightbulb

Here is a quickie that worked for me.
1) Make sure the stereo displays 'Code' and not Err1-9/E, if you need to reset it unplug the battery connectors (first black then red), make the loose cable touch for a couple of seconds, and reconnect the cables to the battery.
2) Power stereo on immediately press CD a few times, and enter the code.

Let the community know if this works for others.

If you need to get the anti theft code for free call Acura client services at 1-800-382-2238. They will require
- VIN #
- Proof of ownership (you can fax in your registration/title)
- S/N of the stereo (you can get that by pressing 1 & 6 and then powering on the stereo)
