Documented first 6months w/PHOTOS 2002 WDP TL

It all started six months ago when I “just had to have a new car”. I came across this WDP beauty my first day out. Lucky me! The sticker in the window said 16,988. After a test drive I left the dealership without the car. Just wasn’t quite sure if it was worth the 16,988 that they wanted at that time. So after much deliberation that night and seeing what the same car was going for at other lots online I came across this.

This was the SAME car that I just took for a test drive that day. According to the online price, they wanted 12,988. The next day I go see the online sales department at the same dealership. Three hours later that WDP beauty was now my new toy.

Now every guy knows that once you get the “new toy” its never enough. Your mind starts racing immediately on what you’re going to do to this car to make it YOUR OWN.
After dropping 12G’s on the car I didn’t have much money left to sink into the car immediately. After six months this is what I’ve managed to do.

15% HP tint ($125.00)

Exhaust (magnaflow mufflers #14829 & Full Custom cat-back bent piping) ($250. for the mufflers & $400. for all the custom work with the pipes)
At this point I started to figure out that nothing aftermarket was going to be offered as a kit for this car. Nobody at Acura wants us to be doing this type of stuff to their “luxury” vehicle.

Next came the badge removal ($0.00 hot water and FREE labor (myself))

Then came the audio system ($4000.00)
Pioneer AVIC D3
Kappa 62.7i for the doors
Viper 5900 SST
Kicker 1000.1 mono block
Kicker Solo Barics 10” x2
Monster Cap
Full Monster cable wiring.
Bluetooth adapter for AVIC D3
Ipod adapter for AVIC D3
AVIC D3 bypass

I take the car down to my local audio shop to get all this installed. Come to find out they don’t make a double din dash kit for this cars either! Damn IT! So I purchase the metra kit and try to do it myself.

Yeah right, who am I kidding! I do not have enough hours in the day to do something like this. I thought it would be easy, guess again. After doing some research I called on uncald4’s services. He’s a really great guy, I even ended up designing some business cards for his shop. Believe me $200 for his dash kit are worth every penny!

(I BLURRED OUT HIS #'S. WASN'T SURE IF HE WANTED THEM GIVEN OUT)

Now that everything is in, I’m going to wait for summer on the next two mods. (wheel, clear headlights, OEM lip kit) I’ll keep you guys posted. Your comments are welcome.

On the Avic D3 you can put your own .jpg's on a disk and display them on the following:
Splash Screen......(I put an OEM start up)
AV menu.............(iTunes)
Nav menu...........(Acura Logo)

I've been working on some screen shots and will be starting a new thread for background images

Indeed. I was sad to see the TL go. But somehow I was able to hold back the tears as I ripped out a few AWD doughnuts in this weeks snow. The SS is a beast.

Hi, I just got a used 2001 Acura 3.2CL, and was thinking about getting the same Viper alarm. When yours was installed, how was the factory alarm handled? Was the Viper piggy backed onto it or disabled? Mine currently has a remote start piggy backed onto the stock alarm, and I need to disarm the alarm system before I can remote start the car. I'm wondering what would be the best way to get it installed, so any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Also, how was the immobilizer handled?

Not sure how it was put in..... I paid a guy I know at a local audio shop 300 to install EVERYTHING. I do know that I had to buy a DEI immobilizer. I do not use the stock remote/alarm for anything and I believe it will work independently.
