Bostons or Focals?

I've been debating for awhile about replacing my front speakers. I've read 100's of posts and I'm torn between Boston Accoustics Pro 6.5 or Focal 6.5 components. My thought is to first replace the front speakers with one of these sets, also installing a amp. Next year I'll look into replacing rear speakers and sub. I feel you all have respectable opinions and would like to here your suggestions/thoughts. I'm leaning towards the bostons because I have boston 950's for my home system and really like the high/mid ranges. It would be great to here the thoughts of those with these systems....

I would recommend the Bostons on the fact you like the sound of the home speakers. They usually follow the same pattern with home and car. The Focals do some great but they will be drier than the Bostons.

Focals no question. Th Bostons are nice but after hearing both side by side the focals sounded more dynamic and not as harsh as the bostons. A assume you are talking about the polyglasses or the K2's Don't get me wrong the access line is nice but the access is just a little below the boston pro's.

well speaking from someone that has the boston pros in his car i would say neither... if i had it all to do over again i would go with the diamond audio hex's.. but if you want the bostons i will sell you mine for a good price... pm me if you are interested..

oh by the way the bostons sound really good.. very good midbass response.. the tweeters can be harsh but you can attenuate them in the xover to compensate for this.. but more than likely if you like your home bostons you will love there pro series car speakers..

Thanks for all your responses.

tlguy...I would get the K2's, if i went with focals. I've listened to them, but not with my type of music (mostly rock) and I didn't crank em.

shaw...I may take you up on that offer. The problem with the hex's is I can't find them anywhere in my area (so i can listen to them)....I am headed off to listen to the boston pros tomorrow. I already listened to focals, I really liked them but i know they can sound much different after I get them in. Did you install the boston's yourself? Did you ever play them withe the bose HU? I'm hoping an external amp will allow me to keep that HU.

While the Focals are great speakers, StreetEffectz has commented that the Focal midbass suffers a bit in the open areas of doors. They were great in kickpanels where they can be sealed. I have the Boston Pro 6.5's in my Honda Pilot. They are really nice but, I personally like my Diamond M661's that are in my TL better. If I could do it again, I would go with the Diamond Hex as well.
