Blown Tweeter?
Blown Tweeter?
I have stock everything. Except for all of my speakers are aftermarket. I think I blew my tweeter, it was making a buzzing sound, and now there is no sound coming from it. Should I take it to an audio place, and have it checked out, or is it cooked?
Thanks. Yah, I don't want to just throw it away. I thought the stock amp had an internal crossover for the tweeter, and I am running all my speakers off the stock amp currently with out installing my aftermarket crossovers. Maybe it was receiving frequencies it couldn't handle.
You can check it out
I had blown tweeters and I found a couple sites that told you how to know for sure.
If you have a multimeter, with the radio off, check the resistance (OHMS) across the two terminals. If it's zero, you're good. If not, bad.

I was having the same problem and it turned out the connection was just loose. I don't know if it will be as simple for you, but pop off the tweeter from the door and check to make sure that its plugged in all the way. My cables were literally just barely staying connected. I just popped them back together and BAM! She was all good. Hope its as simple for you man.
I think its plugged in all the way, as the tweeter from the other side works on the drivers side. the soldered connection to the tweeter seems pretty solid, maybe the polarity is switched tho?
No, sorry man. I was looking into it a while ago cause i guess its a decently cheap mod. But once i found out the labor to do it, i figured i'd just put the money into something else. Lookin to get a lighter one?
