Acura Stereo Head

Some cds take a long time to read in the cd player of my 2001 TL. I was thinking about asking the dealer to replace. If they were to do it, would they do the 1-disc orginal head or put in the 6-disc in dash?

If the are burnt CD's they may take longer to read, Dealer would probably not replace it, and if they did they would not put the 6 disk. I upgraded to a slightly used 2003 tl-s 6 disk for around $200. It was a direct fit and a great upgrade for the 99-01 TL's. Good Luck!

They aren't going to give you a 6 disc in dash, but they should replace your HU like they did mine.

I added an Alpine 6 disk in the trunk that plays MP3's. Used the Honil adapter so it can be controlled by the stock head end.

I'm going to upgrade to the 6 disc in dash as well. I'm going to try to get the insurance company to pay for it too.. cause my car has been sitting out in the weather for about 2 monthes now, with the door panels off and what not, so I am going to say moisture got in it. If they wont go for it, I'll just save up some money. Is the 6 disc a direct plug in, the Acura dealership said the plugs on the back may be different since there is no need of pre-wiring for the changer in the trunk. Has anyone done this before??

Buy FujiFilm CD-R's. They are in a blue package and say "All Purpose" on them. They DO NOT have a speed rating though. The ones with the speed rating didn't work for some reason. These are the only CD's out of the million that I have tried that work PERFECTLY. That is, it does not seek a song for ten minutes and you can actually go to track twenty without having to fastforward through the entire CD.

Black TL/Davey,
Where do you buy the all-purpose Fuji CD-Rs? All of the usual 'net sites seem to have Fuji CD's that are speed rated.

I bought some Fuji CD-R's that have a rating of 48X and have "made in Japan" on the label in small print. These are acutally made by Taiyo Yuden which are highly regarded as the best CD-R's out there. If they don't say "Made in Japan", then it's likely they are NOT Taiyo Yudens.

Circuit city or best buy is where i've seen them for sale. I bought a 50 pack of them and only use them for music cd's. All I can tell you is that they are 80 min. cd'r's and they have no speed rating on them. There is a website on the disc. www.fujifilmmediasource.com . They all seem to work great on our TL factory radio's. I've tried many others and these seem to work the best.
