you didnt answer the question....

how much are you willing to spend, our ansewers will depend on that.

but the short answer is to replace the head unit, and all teh speakers... and add a subwoofer.

Any Aftermarket deck will comes usually preamped, automatically giving you better sound out of the stock system, if thats whayt you want, then just get a quality aftermarket deck:

1. Alpine
2. Pioneer
3. Kenwood
4. Clarion

Also, i would get an mp3 player since you lose your stock cd changer, and if you burn 1 mp3 cd, you can fit over 100 songs..so its like a changer....

good call G-UNIT

start out with a better HU, then add an amp and a sub if you'd like. Down the line, if you want to have an overall good sound system, make sure to upgrade the speakers later and get a new amp for the speakers as well. But for now, just get a new Head Unit, a sub, and an amp

The head unit is fine, and the amp isn't so horrible either (although it's only 12Wx4 into 4ohms). What screws things up are the ratty Blose speakers and the matching built-in EQ in the head unit.
I swapped the front speakers for Polk DX6 and the rears for Boston NX97. Perfect fit. I also connected a 4mH coil before each rear speaker and removed the tweeters from them, because I want all the highs to come from the front. Although it doesn't play quite as loud, the difference is astounding! It is so much more natural and articulate and lively. I do find that I need to turn the treble and bass down a few notches to smooth out the frequency response (to counteract the EQ), but it sounds great.
If you do a search either here or at Acura-TL.com, you'll find the way to bypass the EQ, but I don't think it's worth digging out the head unit....

go to linkmeup.com. they have crossover so the cl doesn't have to change hu or stock speakers. crossover is used so that u can add amp/subs/aftermarket speakers.

^this is not what a crossover does. a crossover is wired between an amp and speakers to direct certain freq. to the speakers that are designed to reproduce them, this has little to do with the factory unit.

for what its worth id just stick a new HU in and call it a day a middle of the road alpine one will run you ~200 and give you better processing and pre amped outputs than the stock unit could ever.

Don't listen to the dealer. A metra kit does exist and it's only about $20. I know because I have one.
