Hello to everyone. I'm from Club RSX and your meet was mentioned in the Texas regional forum. There's a pretty big Austin RSX contingent. Would some of us be welcome to attend? Sounds like a fun get-together. Safe and happy new year to all,

Good deal, I think I recognize you from the boards. It's decided, then.

Fellow Acura drivers: DC5 owners mean you no harm. We are your friends. See you all on the 13th at Starbucks. Happy and safe new year.

Trance and I just got out of a meeting with a major marketing firm here in Dallas. They contacted Acura Club DFW to work with our club in pulling together a marketing video of Acuras and to film some testimonials. Once they have completed this project there is the potential this will go on TV.

The marketing firm will be sending a couple people on the drive with us from Dallas to do the various photoshoots, videos of the cars, and some testimonials.

Here is the best part. They are providing and will be shooting all of this in high definition! They are providing an HD video camera and equipment. This drive and some photoshoots may become part of a national Acura advertising and be televised!

Any suggestions on locations for photo and video shoots during our drive or that evening would be appreciated!

This is going to be a very memorable drive with the best quality videos you could ask for! The more Acuras that come, the better!

Don't worry too much about everything having to be perfect with your cars. Its amazing how good a car looks on video/photos even when they are not clean. Don't kill yourselves making your cars perfect and don't worry about having all the aftermarket stuff done before then. Just enjoy the day and being part of a very special event.

We will be caravaning from Dallas and leaving around 6:30am. PM me for a hookup location.

I will also be bringing my 2-way radios. I'd recommend that if you can get them or have them, then bring them. It helps to be able to talk while driving. You can pick them up for ~$20 for 2 radios at Fry's. I'm sure Radio Shack or some other electronics place will carry them.

I should have a final drive map in before the end of the week. ATXCLS is working on that detail as we speak.

What radio stations. We need a page dedicated for instructions that we can print as well and times, events, and maps if possible.

Guys I just made a dedicated website to our meet. Mark, keep me updated on any changes so I can update the website immediately of them. I will try to keep the roster updated as well.

http://www.acuraclubsa.com/texasmeet.htm

It has MAPS, Driving directions from each location (Houston, SA, DFW) all on one page. Took me about an hour to do this with the photo editing, etc.

Dinner & Starting Party Point for the evening meet.

I know we've had several great suggestions for a dinner location. I'd like to get this hammered out now so we can contact the location of choice and let them know there will be a bunch of us coming. We could have anywhere from 20-40+ people so it would be difficult on any place we go without some advance notice.

I'm not so focused on getting a location with parking for all of us but if its preferred let us know that detail.
SO...lets hammer it out now...what are the options? Copy what is below and add your suggestions. If it easier, I can just go with these 2 options and call them and see who's willing to give us space. I know Iron Cactus would have room for a large group.

1. The Iron Cactus restaurant in downtown Austin. Its Mexican food and and an excellent choice of tequilas and margaritas. They have live bands here and its a good starting point for the rest of the night.See http://www.ironcactus.com/default.asp for more info.

2. The Ditch is a great place to eat some cheap mex food and get good drinks too, and its just off 5th.

I've put a call into the Hampton Inn and will request that everyone book under the Acura Club group name. We've had several people already start booking there. Once I've confirmed this with the hotel I'll post so you can update your reservation or book it under that group. Not guarantees on a group discount but I'll make sure they understand our special needs with parking cars.

A little batty in Austin!

For those that have not frequented Austin there is a really cool event that occurs in the evening. Their is a colony of 1.5 MILLION bats under the Congress Ave Bridge that come out all in the span of about 20-30 minutes every night.

This is something that could be easily mixed in prior to dinner for those wanting a little change of pace.

Can anyone in Austin confirm they are still there this time of year?

They are not setting up anything for booking reservations so just call in on you own.
