TEXAS MEET - AS BIG AS TEXAS January 13, 2007 POSTPONED!
Dallas/FW, Austin, San Antonio, Houston!!! We do things BIG in TEXAS!!! Let's do this 1st one BIG!!!!
1st meet for the state of Texas! We are planning in advance to get everyone we can together in Texas. We want to hold it in a central location for everyone, so we're going to Austin!
We will plan to do a Saturday afternoon meet/drive followed by a Saturday night dinner. Some of us will plan to stay overnight while in Austin and drive home on Sunday. Details on the drive, restaurant, and hotel(s) will follow.
We would like to pick a Saturday in January 2007. Post if you would like to attend and what weekend works best for you. Choices are 1/13, 1/20, or 1/27.
It's important to make this a big event!
MOD EDIT: Here is the schedule so far. (trancemission)
Here is a link to the page that has maps and all the info you need..

The problem starts in the Dallas area (and those coming from LA). We are expecting the main brunt of the front coming through Friday & Saturday with the arctic front right with it. Sunday, Dallas is expecting freezing temperatures and winter mix, which means ice. This makes for unsafe driving which I would not ask anyone to do.
I wanted this to happen as much as anybody but I'm not going to throw caution to the wind.
I ask that you understand that planning an event 2 months in advance is going to be tricky this time of year. We've basically been in a drought all year and now with winter upon us the weather decides to change with precipitation. Based on the last 2 storms that came through most of Texas over the Holidays we have to take this next weather front serious. If it had not rained like it did, twice, 2-3 weeks ago I'd be willing to risk it.
Please understand! For those that this really puts a monkeywrench into your personal plans, I apologize deeply. I hope that when we reschedule that you can somehow swing it.

I would think January 13th would be perfect. Reason being is MLK Holiday is the 15th. so we get a 3 day weekend anyways! So it gives some of us who have that holiday off a day of rest.
Can't wait!

Mark, who is organizing the drive, dinner etc? I help organize drives through the Hill Country on a monthly basis, so let me know and I can get some good routes set up.

I actually have some good routes which I think I might have mapped somewhere still. I will try to find them tonight if I can. It;s around 300 miles through the hill-country. Very fun some parts. It's around Austin but deeper into the hill country.

Mark, and all. I planned on going the night before and hitting 6th street pretty hard. I want others with me. The more people, the cheaper the rooms get so if anyone is interested, im def. going the night before.
Last time in Austin, for the Hill Country Drive, I stayed in:
The Mariott at the Capitol
701 E 11th St, Austin, TX
It within walking distance from 6th street and has safe parking. If I rem. right it wasnt terrible expensive, but it was a very nice hotel.
This hotel has my vote, but am open to anything.
