few more nuggets of info. Late May, still no concrete msrp other than low 50’s. BUT, looks like power folding mirrors were added, rain sensing wipers added, remote engine start added, and the color combos changed a bit which is unfortunate.

Wtf so Modern Steel metallic Aspec gets red interior, modern steel metallic type s in Canada gets red interior, but modern steel metallic type s in US is only black interior. Guess I need to contact Acura and change my preorder color combo since it was originally modern steel with red interior.

I was just about to post the same thing. That was my color preference as well. I cannot stand black interiors!! Why Acura? Why?

Looks like this new "Orchid" interior is a reality. Hope to see more pics of combos soon.

I don't see any mention of rear-biased SHAWD (how it will be different from regular SHAWD if at all). On Acura website, they use rear-biased word for Type S SHAWD and not for regular models.

Still missing the HUD and heated rear seats.

The changes are welcome and might've tempted me had my lease not been up sooner. It's as if Acura's been following AZ...

While they should have those, the absence of either aren't dealbreakers to me. I like the pricing though; let's hope dealers don't "price gouge" this product.

Post Invalid Color?

Acura should update their photos if the newly published color options don't include the Lunar Silver Metallic pictured here:

The HUD is very annoying still. Also, I don’t see the surround cameras.

yeah I didn’t notice that. Lunar silver not even included along with the modern steel not having red interior. Didn’t the earlier photos from the Detroit motor show have the red interior on the modern steel? I wonder why they scrapped that option.

Strange how they still haven't published the Type S' curb weight. Seems like they're holding back on some key details.

They're probably afraid folks will deduce the 0-60 from the curb weight.

Looks like Acura listened to the Interwebs. The Type S has some features from the Advance trim, and is in the low $50k's USD. In other words, MSRP is likely to be only slightly more than the Advance. So....my only complaint at this point is about the back seat. I am really, really, REALLY torn at this point. Buy a leftover RLX Sport Hybrid for mid-$40s, used RLXSH for upper 30's (there's a fetching example at my local dealer now), or deal with the small rear seat and lease a Type S? Or just keep my manual Accord, which is super-fun to drive and reasonably speedy?

The car ADD life is hard....

Even with only 2 months to go, they're still playing the slow burn thinking people are dying for details. They're for sure planning a grand reveal a few weeks/month before sales. Thinking mid April for final price and specs, and end of April for reviews to start coming in.

Another new color combo. Red exterior was only available with black seats and red stitching on Aspec but the type S has Red exterior with Red interior option. Im not sure if that’s too much red and if the reds will even closely match or if it will look tacky and like it’s aftermarket.

So it looks pretty good and the features and price will be solid. Acura here is some free advice:

EVERY SINGLE MEDIA TEST CAR NEEDS TO BE EQUIPPED WITH THE SUMMER TIRES.

I swear to God if I have to read a review that talks about the tires don't have enough grip but the "optional summer tires should eliminate that concern" I'm going to f*cking scream. Acura is so dumb sometimes. It's the Type-S!!! Put the summer tires on and let the reviewers see the full potential of the car.

They just delayed my purchase of a competitors vehicle by including some of those key features of the Advance.

It's probably just coincidental timing, but I can't help but wonder if Acura decided they needed to release some more information now, on the heels of the new Stinger update that Kia just announced.

The ILX Aspec is currently offered with a red on red scheme.

Besides the ILX as a whole being mostly already hideous, that color combo finished it off.

what’s even more surprising is if you want red exterior your only option is red interior. You can’t even get the ebony interior. I’m wondering if Acura made a typo with it and the modern steel metallic interior colors.

Sadly I think the 5.3 sec 0-60 of the Stinger turbo 4 will only be tenths of second longer than the TLX Type S. I won't be disappointed if I'm wrong but I'm not very bullish on the Type S and the expected weight it has to overcome.

I like:
Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3s. (Experieanced them at VIR with my friends '18 Camaro 1LE)
Continetal Extreme Contact Sports (I have them on my Vigor and TSX and LOVE them)

BUT the Supercar 3s aren't offered in the TLX-S stock 255/35R20 size. You'd have to get a 255/40R20 as the next closest size.

The ECS's are offered in 255/35R20 though an they're amazing summer tires that deal with colder temps better than other summers of the same category and tread wear.

Problem with the Supercar 3s is that they will wear down really quickly with a nose heavy car like the TLX being driven like it should be. The ESCs will also but not as quickly and also won't offer as high of performance as he Supercar 3s.

Acura and Honda obviously won't use those as the optional tire option because so many people will complain about the wear. I fear the summer option they have still wouldn't be too great but I'm curious to see what it ends up being.

Same for me.
I just pre-ordered a Type S White Pearl with the red interior. Supposedly my order will be going thru in the next few days...so we will see. I have in writing that my deposit is fully refundable, so if pricing is crazy, I can walk away with no issues...Heres hoping that the price stays competitive.

You just nailed it!

I swear I will be so pissed off if Acura doesn't give the media with Sport Summer tires. As you said, let these journalists push the car and get the full experience. Last time AoA said at least 5 times, these tires aren't letting him to push the car.

According to the latest update today, Type S summer tire option is Pirelli P Zero Summer.

Honda does equip the CTR with SportContact 6 tires (which are more aggressive than the ExtremeContact Sport), so I wouldn't rule out Acura offering either the ECS as the summer option for the Type-S.

Agreed, Acura did listen to the part about the standard feature set and the lambasting of the 10 speed auto. They neo refer to it as a 'sport-tuned' 10-speed, adding marketing fluff isn't going to cut it, Acura.

At least they didn't go full fluff and call it the "Precision-Crafted Sport-Tuned IconicShift 10-Speed."

Also not to be confused with the Precisely Optimized Shifter (POS).

Looks like Jon Ikeda (or his assistants) read the forums after all.

What is strange is still no mention of Surround View Cameras. I sure hope they didn't develop a new set of power-folding side-mirrors that are missing the cameras.

1. Agreed

2. Yeah, getting rid of the old 2004 Accord-V6 was hard. However, Audi did give me $3500 for it. It was time.

Very good news.

Still won't touch one at MSRP though, but nice to see Acura hasn't completely lost their sensibilities.

This has me curious if there were any internal changes. PRL found the limits of the 10sp AT in a FWD Accord to be ~420wTQ. That number will be less for anything with SH-AWD.

Just because the company usually makes good tires doesn't mean all the tires they make are good. They're not horrid, but there's a reason why the P Zeros have a relatively poor customer rating on tirerack: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...reModel=P+Zero. I wasn't a fan of them when I tried out a set; tread-life was relatively poor, and tire noise and grip was middle of the road for the category. Would definitely rather than any of the Michelin Pilot Sports, Conti ESC, even the Bridgestone S04 and Goodyear F1 Eagles
