Puddle Lights!
Puddle Lights!
Hi all,
Has anyone here replaced their OEM puddle lights with the 23' Honda Pilot's LED puddle light LEDs? I am taking my car to Acura tomorrow to have the driver's side replaced and will inquire about getting it replaced with an LED bulb. I'm guessing they will say no, but it's worth a shot.
For those of you with a Type S, have you had any issues with your puddle lights? If so, did you have the dealership replace them, and how many times? How long did it take them to replace the bulb(s)?
I am debating if it's even worth the time to replace it with an OEM bulb, but it's under warranty, so I figure why not.

I had mine replaced, they both went out days after being purchased in 2021. I waited a year and a half to get the newest bulb type then The tech broke my mirror and scratched my door in the process of replacing them. My drivers side is now out again. Demand they lay a towel on the door when doing the work if youre having it done.
Mine are still out and they are the original. From what I have seen, the only real fix is upgrading to the Pilot’s LED lights which are not only whiter, but seem to hold up thus far.
i would suggest you don’t bother and have them replaced with the same bulb, even if under warranty; they will more than likely fail at some point.

The puddle lights are useless anyway, I just hate having things not working on my vehicle. However, not worth yanking apart my mirror (just watched a video on replacing that bulb). Forget it!
My driver side only works and my passenger side been out like almost 3 years now. To be honest, over the years I wouldn't notice it anyways since its not that bright. I installed the OEM welcoming lights and those are brighter and noticeable that the side mirror puddle lights. But yes over the year it just like what ever to me. Like other said I didn't want to bring it into the dealership and have them mess around or damage something else.

Skip worrying about the Puddle Lights on the mirrors. Ask the Dealer to install the Welcome Lights (under the door sills) instead and live with the better solution. I don’t even notice my working puddle lights because the mirrors are always folded, and the Welcome Lights steal the show when I approach the car.
Just my $0.02.

Acura should consider carpet lights
One of the nice things I noticed when I got my X3 was the inclusion of "carpet lights". Basically, it's a projection from within the car onto the floor when the car is unlocked.
As the electronics are inside, no fear of getting the lamp wet or exposed to the elements! It's an elegant solution and definitely makes you feel like you are driving a luxury car!
Before someone says "it's just a logo projector", it's not. The carpet lights don't move w/the car doors!
See pic for example (not my car but similar):

When the puddle lights had gone out on my TLX, I thought it was tied to first MY of a new gen issues. Clearly it's not!

The driver's side recently went out on my '22. I saw a video on how to replace them but it looks like you can easily break the mirror glass if you are not careful. Probably wait for the other side to die and have then swapped at the next service since it's covered.
