Great review ELIN. We've been driving a 2004 TL for past 16 years. In June we purchased a 2021 TLX Advance. Now have 800 miles on the TLX and have definitely enjoyed the drive/ride. Certainly is taking some time getting used to the touch pad interface, but coming along okay. The long hood view certainly is different after our 2004 TL and 2018 MDX Hybrid, but slowly getting used to it. I drive in the Normal Dynamic Mode with Sport Suspension using the Individual Mode, seems to eliminate front end bounce for me. Corners at speed are great and acceleration is excellent

My latest "minor" issue occurs when I connect my phone the cars Sirrus/XM stops and connects to Apple Car Play requiring some touch pad work to get back to the TLX Sirrus/XM. Possible I've just overlooked a setting time will tell.

Overall we could not be happier with the 2021 TLX

Yeah, I have similar issues where the Car Play audio plays over the radio even though I didn't ask it to.

Wait, you've had a 2021 model since June?!!!

I think Acura is just taking a page from the German carmakers. Everyone asks you to pay for the best features on the app!

LOL. I remember those!

At least I entered the lease with tempered expectations. If I end up loving the car, I can always buy it out after 3 years.

Depending on when (and if) you fall in love with your car it makes sense to buy out your lease earlier. Saves you some extra coin. We had a 94 Accord that I loved and bought out at 19 months.

Good point. I've yet to buy out a car I've leased so we'll see if I can finally break the cycle with this car.

Yesterday I was entering a highway via a very short entry ramp that was further hindered by construction on the shoulder about 50 ft ahead. I basically had to jump into the nearest lane since I couldn't ramp up speed on the shoulder. I put the car in "Sport" and barely got ahead of the car already in the lane.

I've driven only one car where I knew it wouldn't break a sweat pulling that maneuver but it also had 325 ft-lb of torque!

People actually own this car? lol No must be buying it, because I have not seen one car on the freeways.

My local dealerships have the same stock that they had a month and two weeks ago. No activity.

Only car I see de-listed was a Advanced trim on Violet pearl and a Performance red A-Spec. Either sold or transfered.

Ditto, although I've seen a handful of new 1G TLXs with new plates. Guess those deals are too good to pass up when compared to the 2G prices.

Despite my lukewarm review, the car is really growing on me as it is designed as the perfect commuter car and even possibly for long drives.

At the moment, I don't mind that the club is so "exclusive" as it gets plenty of looks and I'm sure uninformed folks will probably think it's a Type S or something sportier.

Acura will be in deep trouble if it can't even convince its fan base that this car is worth owning.

I just saw one for the first time outside of dealerships yesterday. It was a blue A Spec.

I will very likely add my name to the list of owners but it will be the Type S version.

Right there with you!

I can get a crazy good deal on an RLX Sport Hybrid (there are three identical 2020s at two local dealerships) but am waiting to see what happens with the TLX Type S

I test drove a tlx advanced and they only offered me 2k off the msrp.

Compare that to lexus with the ES, instant 8k off msrp offer.

My opinion is the TLX will dead in the water compared to the competitions offer's.

My negotiated price was < $43,000 on an AWD A-Spec. Deals can be had...

ES is not a good comparison. It’s based on the Camry while TLX is no longer on Accord platform.

Actually, as of the 6G in 2012, the ES is based on the Avalon, not Camry.

Yes, I lost track! Ever since Lexus switched to the spindle grill, I’ve ignored their products.

Unhappy TLX is just "not quite right."

I would imagine future Type S owners would do the same!
I'm a long time Acura owner...past TLX A-Spec, which I really liked a lot. The new one leaves me..."empty"....wanting what it SHOULD have on the Type S especially.
Hope they change their minds about what was "left out" and add them. But, somehow I doubt that will happen. LED fog lamps, HUD, 360 camera view, etc...should be
on the Type S. They are going to lose some sales due to the omissions. And overall the car just does not 'wow me" like I wanted it too. I like most of the interior, etc. But,
the car is just too long and they just went "too far" with much of the exterior sizing. My '18 TLX was just right in size. They lost my purchase. I WILL buy the new 2022 MDX.
Will replace my '19 MDX Adv. Love it...but, this new one...WOW!! That's for my wife. For me...I ordered a '21 Mustang GT with all options. My 12th Mustang. But, I do love
Acuras...as long as they don't "mess them up." LOL!!

Ticks me off that such a well built car as the Lexus, that they put a horrible grill on all of them! I ignore now...but, want to look at their
products closer, but, NOPE, can't get past that damn grill. The body designers lost their way. Using basic art, form and function must
prevail. Sizing must compliment surrounding dimensions...size, shaping, etc. Just like colors, need to compliment other surrounding
colors...shades....shading, etc. That grill just does NOT belong there. Only on a whale's face!!! IMHO! Lexus lost at least one sale
with me. I love the LC500...but, for that GRILL!!!!!!

All signs point to the Type S just being the A-Spec with a better engine and wheels, and quad-pipes. If you're not already in love with the look of the current car, then you're doing the right thing by not waiting for Spring.

Acura would love if forums like this one would post tons of "Take My Money" memes but the truth is this Type S is going to be closer to $55k and cause quite a number of people to pause.

Here's my all time car hall of shame:

Lexus "spindle/hourglass" grill
Acura beak - when also applied to the rear, sometimes you didn't know if it was coming or going.
2011 Odyssey - when this first came out, the black colored version looked like someone crammed an SUV and hearse together!
BMW 440i - a grill only a mother would love
BMW i3 - if you get a green colored one, it would look like the pigs fighting the Angry Birds!

Totally agree. My '21 Mustang was sold to me..or will be sold to me....at $1K below Invoice. And it's very loaded. Magneride susp, heated/cooled, etc, etc. So, the cost will be under
what we believe the Type S will be.

I found it to be an eyesore on the early editions of the TL. After the 09 and 10 versions, it was fine.

Isn't the Avalon just a stretched Camry chassis?

Just picked mine up yesterday evening. 2021 Aspec. Modern Steel Metallic/Red. SH-AWD. Traded in my 2018 Aspec in White/Red.

Like the new car a lot! Miss a few things about the old. I miss the V6. New engine is very nice and quick, I’ve just always preferred the feel and sound of a V6. I will get used to the new engine. I liked the look of the old exhaust better but the new is growing on me. Same with the wheels. Don’t love them but they are growing on me. I really wish it was a bit shorter. No need for the extra length. I love the SH-AWD so far. I did not have it on the old one.

Interior and electronics are a bit overwhelming at first but after getting it home and set up I love all of it. It’s a little difficult dealing with new controls and infotainment in rush hour traffic. Touch pad I’m really liking a lot and already used to it. I feel I don’t want to be without it now that I have it.

I haven’t driven it much. About 25 miles when I drove it home yesterday. I will take it out today some. So far I’m very happy with the trade. I had 35% tint and full clear bra installed. Also had dealer throw in all weather mats, trunk tray, and splash guards.

Any questions feel free. I’m glad to answer.

Thanks! Yep! Will post pics in a bit when I get out in the daylight. It was too dark when I got home yesterday. Give me about an hour.

That color really looks good with the new design. When I purchased my 2018 ASpec, white, modern steel, and still night blue pearl were my favorite colors. White and modern steel look the best with the red interior, IMO.

Yes I agree. Originally I wanted this color in 2018 but got the white with red. As much as I enjoyed that color combo I always wanted this color.

Congrats! I've got 300+ miles logged on mine so far. No regret with the red/black interior so far (where else can you get that except in the A-Spec and the upcoming Type S!).

Not all V6's are created equal. I had a V6 2012 C-Class that was a dog even though on paper it should have been enough power (it was a heavy car).

The 2.0 in the TLX should be PLENTY for most people.

You pretty much explained the negative part of the TLX, not all 2.0 are created equal. So having a slow V6 in the C is considered a dog, but having a slow I4T in the TLX is ok for most people? It's a 55k car in Canada, plenty is a definition to be used for Accords and Camrys. Youtube keeps on showing me those stupid Type-S ads with engine noises, but only the TLX is available now. Acura's marketing clearly doesn't use "plenty" in the same sense when selling it.

That is your perception. I own the car and the 2.0 is good enough for 90% of people's needs. That last 10% consists of enthusiasts and should (hopefully) be fulfilled by the Type S.

There is not one professional or consumer review that has called this 2.0 slow!
