2021+ Acura TLX & TLX TYPE S Sales Numbers

Lola
This is kind of a weird question but has Acura ever released their Kuwait sales number. Considering that they are exporting new cars to their only dealership in Kuwait.
2nd gen TLX in Kuwait.

I'll tell you what... and I said this back in the 1G forum... I love the revival of the nostalgic and superior naming convention. Let's hope they do right by it. As long as I'm pie in the sky dreaming about this, I'll repeat what I said a couple weeks ago that I would be kicking the doors down to be first in line if they somehow offer this as a convertible.

^ Hopefully you're right, but I have a feeling they're lining up the marketing material just like the Type-S. I hope they now see people are not dumb (minus the ones who actually paid adm).

Is the Legend next? At least with the integra their is a chance at a coupe. Acura is about the only one out there without that offering.

Ikeda said they would consider it but it would have to be able to carry the name properly. I am guessing it will be Acura's first large EV sedan.

I wonder how the millions of people that don't have a garage and park on the street are going feel about buying EV vehicles and having to spend 20 mins to an hour charging them on the way to work or home. They need to solve that problem of charging time to make it reasonable.

Think its common sense. Batteries can be safe but they still have a lot of latent energy if something does go wrong. Have a some R/C aircraft with electric motors run by LiPo batteries which can be very exciting when the magic smoke leaks out. I don't leave them unattended while under charge. I also don't leave the two beach buggies with lithium batteries plugged into a charger even though they are pretty safe.

FWIW, the founder of Chick-fil-A wanted the last Taurus off the Ford Atlanta assembly plant in 2006 when it was being discontinued.
The first Chick-fil-A was across the street and many a Ford employees were customers. The last one was destined for Ford, but IIRC Ford gave him the 2nd to last Taurus

I'm honestly surprised the sales aren't worse than they are. My local Honda dealer that I pass almost every day has hardly any new Hondas on the lot. They can't get them. It's very odd seeing their parking lot which is normally packed full of cars, being virtually empty. The Ford and Nissan dealerships right down the road from Honda are almost as bad but not quite.

The parts shortages are branching out beyond the chips, there's a global rubber shortage (related to COVID19 of course). And few weeks ago exec at Magna was saying there's shortages for all sorts of polymers which is affecting their delivers of car subassemblies.

We bought a new Honda Pilot a month ago - they had about 10 new ones on the lot (luckily for us) so we were able to negotiate some. I bought a new TLX a week ago and they had 7 TLX's on the lot - 2 of which were being sold the day I was in. I got my $2500 loyalty plus another $1,000 off so I was pretty happy. We were at the Mazda dealer before the Honda and they had three CX9's on the lot and flat out refused to come off MSRP.
It's an odd time to buy a new car - you can get a more than fair amount for a trade or outright sale of your used car. But the dealer has more leverage than we've seen in our lifetime.

Do you ever think the A4 shares the customers with A5? I am not so sure if those sell numbers including the Allroad and Sportback. Even if they do, their combined numbers are well over 10K. Let alone Acura has 4 lines up vs Audi has no less than 10.
#149
I'm pretty sure a good chunk of A4 sales get cannibalized by A5SB sales. Back in 2017 Audiworld reported a 50/50 split between SB and Coupe/Convertible sales, so taking half the A5 sales and adding it to the A4 is probably fair.

Hey Audi, do you have wagon A4? Audi: check out aisle 5 for the Allroad. 🤣

Inventory is extremely low- Rallye Acura which is the largest Long Island dealer has 1 ILX, 8 MDX (which includes 4 in transit) and 21 TLX (which includes 7 Type S). Good luck negotiating a discount in this market !!!

Its hard to make a 1 for 1 comparison. 2 series base price before options runs $35/45 (No M), 3 series $41/56 (No M), 4 series $46/66 (No M), 5 series $54/77 (No M). If you look at the TLX/TLX-S $37,500 to 52,300, it overlaps a lot of the other product lines.

All brands are struggling to get stock in and with all the hype G70 is getting on this forum and yet it is still WAY behind TLX in sales..... All these keyboard warriors are not pulling out their wallets and buying them. Shocking, not.

My local Acura dealer has 25 total new vehicles on their lot and 38 used vehicles. 1 Tiger Eye which has been listed for a week or two. Also 1 total ILX. The next closest dealer has 109 new on their lot. 2 Type S, one being the Tiger Eye as well. Think that color is harder for them to move as they had 4 a couple weeks back and the tiger eye was listed then as well.Just over in Pa the dealer has 29 total new, 1 Type S (white) and over 100 used cars. Inventory is low in general. For perspective the Audi dealer I purchased from has 19 total new vehicles on the lot.Another member on here told me he recently went with the S5 and the wait time is 4 to 6 months. The type S is pretty easy to get relatively speaking.

Clearly you missed the part where everyone is complaining about the dealership network (or lack thereof). It's hard to sell a car when there's no dedicated dealerships, and nobody wants to go buy a car from some jankyass Hyundai dealership.

Yeah, so hard, you call or email Genesis and they drop the car right to your house for a test drive. Doesn't get easier than that.

Think a number of people here have purchased one with SebringSilver being the most recent. Also think it takes awhile for a spinoff to create its own identity. Expect Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus & Nissan/Infiniti all when through the same growth issues.

Are those cars actually on the lots - or are you going off what they're showing on their website? The reason I ask is - my local dealer shows 22 TLX's but in reality they only have 5 on the lot - the website shows cars they know are coming in (sometime) in an effort to not look bad to consumers who are browsing prior to driving in.
