The comparison was all about factory options which is factual, except for the wireless charging which was not available in 2021 (IIRC due to a shortage of Infineon Technologies wireless charging chip). That is false on the Acura website, but the other two are true.
It's not installed by the dealership It's installed by BMW directly at their port. This has nothing to do with the dealership. These are BMW parts that are put on at the port by BMW not an individual BMW dealership. It's like ordering individual paint, it's from BMW but some colors aren't on the website you have to order directly with the a sales person. My point is you have the option and the parts are not aftermarket.

If you cannot build a car with the parts, it’s not optional from factory.
Dinan products aren't the same they are not BMW, they are a separate company that has a partnership. When building a car with the dealership all the extra M Performance parts you want can be put on at the port. Why would it matter if they were put on in the Plant vs. the Port? Who cares? You have the option for all these M Performance extra's when building your car at the dealership.

But are you paying full price for these wheels? That's not a factory option imho. An option to me is like the TLX Type S All Season Tire and wheels vs the Y spoke wheels and performance tires with an upgrade cost difference of $800.00.

The previous BMWs I’ve owned/ordered, factory accessories were only available through the site, not from a 3rd party company such as a broker.

Do You like the brand? Mixed feelings on where its headed and it needs to refocus and pick a lane, as it doesn't seem to do any one thing too well despite its claims.
At least you have an Acura and have mixed feeling...what about those that they hate the brand wouldn't even consider it, but yet spend 8 hours a day here? All good, as far as everyone is having fun and respecting each other

No , they roll the price into the lease so you’re not paying full price.

All you do is tell the broker what you want and they will get a parts list from the dealer they work with.

that makes no sense. wheels do not get residualized. leases are based off MSRP so if you add $3,000 for wheels your payment will go up about $90.00 a month over a 36 month lease. 36m x $90.00 a month = $3,240.00 so youre paying full price.

Interesting. That explains how you were able to get non-factory parts delivered with a new car. I wonder if I could’ve gotten Dinan or Hondas already installed from the dealership through a broker on my previous cars when they were delivered as some dealers install them.

One more question. What happened to the OEM tires and wheels that the car was assembled and shipped with that were replaced? That’s a few grand missing.

All M Performance parts ordered at the time you order your car that are installed at the port are residualized into the lease. This is a fact, I'm not sure why some of you are trying to argue with me on this.. Your numbers are off and that's not true. If the wheel is 3700 and your residual is 58% you pay 58% of the wheel cost over the life of the lease. which is about $58 dollars/Month added to the lease if doing 36 months. So you're paying a little over 2100 rather than 3700(Not including the taxes) if you were to buy them post delivery.

What do you mean a few grand missing? If you plan on ordering an M Performance Rim Options most people will just get the free option base wheels.

Huh? M Performance Parts are not a Dealer to Dealer option. All BMW dealerships have an order sheet for them to be put on at the port. Dinan is not apart of BMW M Performance is. It's not aftermarket. Dinan is not an option at Order. M performance parts are at the BMW Ports and put on by BMW themselves. They will not put on aftermarket parts as they are not even an option at order.

Whenever there was an M or JCW (MINI) performance part like an exhaust or rims installed through the dealer, they always gave you your old part they replaced.

as long as the wheels are part of the MSRP then I believe you but not everyone leases a car.

I don't understand why this is an issue regarding M performance parts. Many members here are buying the Type-S' performance wheels separately due to car trim allocation/supply issues. Those wheels will cost the owners extra, leased or not even though it's part of an Acura package.

2 different things. It started when someone said that a car came with 20 inch rims optional, which do not and required ordering as an “accessory”. For instance, you can build a Type S with the HPT you mentioned, but cannot build a M340i with the 20 inch rims mentioned.

It's the same to me, paying extra to get what you want when available

So to you, it’s the same (“optional from factory”) whether you order an option from factory when building such as a different rim or you order an APR tune, since you just pay extra? The debate on what is considered “optional from factory vs aftermarket”. How are we still even on this topic when it’s pretty clear by definition?

Congrats on the S4. Not sure what one costs these days with the prestige package but probably in the type S range. The S4 is a super nice ride. Performance and breaking wise it's a great choice. I have the S5 so not sure how the ride compares but with 19" wheels mine is super smooth.

I think the S4 might be a little bit more. The ride even in dynamic mode is buttery smooth, i have the black optics and sport packages so i have the 19s as well. I'll likely get a set of Neuspeed Rse10 18s to run a meatier lightweight setup that exposes those beautiful red 6 pots. I have the black optics package and black rims will be the finishing touch.

People probably see this post and ask why, I've owned Acura's and considered a Type S, but the availability and markups then some of the quirks led to me deciding a different direction. Just want to give some honest feedback.

True not everyone leases but I really don't see it any different than clicking off additional options when building the car straight on the site. If you want the Cooling Package and Black Rims you still have to pay an extra $2100 or whatever it is. If you want the Different 19 Inch wheels on the site you have to pay $900 extra. If you want M Performance 20 inch wheels outright if financing you can order those as well but you'll end up paying 3-7000 depending on the style you opt for so it's really no different. All M Performance parts are warrantied through BMW so they are not the same has having aftermarket parts put on.

That's installed through the dealer though. If you are having a car custom built through BMW all parts are installed at the Port so you're not getting the stuff they take off.

Sure is, the only reason I hired a broker was because I didn't feel like the back and forth non sense and the Broker has a relationship with numerous dealerships to get the best deal. If you go into any BMW dealership and work with any Sales Associate to order your car they can do the same thing, the Broker just tells the Sales person at BMW what I want and BMW orders the car how I asked the Broker to, so the Broker is just negotiating price, I had no contact with the dealership until it was time to pick up my car. BMW is still in charge of how my car comes out. It was actually BMW of San Francisco who gave my Broker the M Performance parts list when I told him I wanted certain additions.

What would be the benefit of doing that versus just buying the parts yourself since it’s the same price, plus you can have the old parts to sell?

I leased my car so i don’t pay full price . You also don’t pay installation costs when done at the port. If you buy at the dealer after your car comes in you’re paying full price and paying dealers crazy hourly installation cost. Also you’ll get the car already to go. No waiting for them to set up a time to install things etc.

well the c43 is in a league of its own now. Can’t wait to see actual performance numbers.

Quite relevant as the previous C43 was Acura's benchmark for the TLX Type S. Even though the new C43 is most certainly gonna outperform the Type S, Mercedes' decision to go 4-cylinder (and rather meek and droopy styling) is a dealbreaker for me. Crazy how the C43 went from a V8 to a 4-cylinder hybrid in just a couple generations.
Quick addendum: it's funny how Mercedes is charging you if you want piped in engine noises by calling it their "AMG Real Performance Sound system" option.

way too many electronics in that car. Also the 4 Cylinder is a no go for most people.

I always thought the C43 is a beautiful machine. It may not perform as good as M340i but the look is just wow. I am just not too sure about C43 with 4 cylinder. We will see...i don't want to be one of those people to start spreading rumors before the car is even out. Hope it's good and brings novelty to this segment.,

They have already used the 4 cyl for many years already, such as the 387hp 4 cyl A45 AMG which was not sold in the states. The way the press is handling the news on the C43 with the lack of comparison to the tech of the A45 AMG shows how little knowledge they have of it.

What do you mean? Plenty of articles mention the CLA45 and GLA45, which have been sold here for almost a decade.

That means the C43 is powered by the M139 2.0-liter inline-four—also found in the CLA45 and GLA45 AMG models—and has a turbocharger with an electric motor plus the typical exhaust-gas plumbing.

Gone is the 385-hp twin-turbo V-6 from the previous C43, replaced by the company's impeccable M139 turbocharged four-cylinder out of the CLA45, GLA45, and SL43.

The gas engine hails from Mercedes' M139 engine family, the same turbocharged I-4 that's made its way into smaller AMGs of late such as the A35/45, CLA45, GLA35/45, and GLB35/45 models
