Needing to replace the rear door speakers because one of them is blown and I have two questions regarding it. I have the ELS audio system. 1) I can only find 4 ohm 3 1/2 inch speakers and with the system being 2 ohm, should I just put a resistor in between the speaker wire and the speaker or is there a better way to go about it. 2) I have been looking at the Phantom Audio upgraded factory amp for the car and trying to decide if it is worth the upgrade or not. I have 3 years on my warranty still and was gonna start upgrading the audio system once it is out of warranty so I dont know if the amp upgrade would be worth it or not since I am going to be bypassing it in the future.

I have never had a problem with car audio before but this 2 ohm stuff is messing with me and throwing me through a loop. Not to mention, I have heard bad stuff about the ELS system in these cars and want to upgrade it but cant justify spending $500 on the amp when I am going to be bypassing it in the future. So I am looking for other peoples thoughts and opinions on everything. Thank you

 

If you are still under warranty, why not have them replaced with stock while you continue your investigation? I had blown speakers replaced on a company car once, and the dealer did not seem to think it was anything out of the ordinary.
