Will crank, but not start

2015 TLX advance 118k miles. Started right up this morning, came home, go to restart, cranks strong, no start. I have disconnected battery and put a charger on it while I scour the 'net.

anybody have a quick thought or know of a known issue?

Having grown up in Richfield I'm reasonably familiar with Minnesota weather and what challenges our cars face. Given the symptoms I'd take a hard look at the fuel system and then spark.

Yeah it was -20 when this happened. Started fine in garage, parked back in garage, and then the gremlin. I disconnected battery and put it on a charger for 30 min or so, and then it fired right up. First hiccup I’ve had with that car.

I've been having battery issues since last year with my 2018 TLX A-SPEC.
It wouldn't re-start itself on Autostops in traffic.
I took it in to the dealer and they replaced the battery under warranty but now its been a year and it is still happening.
I didn't drive it for a day and it only dropped to -9 degress C and it took forever to get started.
I believe the batteries that are given in the cars stock are under performing and may look into getting a replacement battery that is stronger.

I'm sure you've already dumped in a bottle of HEET, right?

I actually did put a bottle in after I got it running, along with a bottle of Techron. But isn’t using 10% ethanol essentially the same thing?

was it slow to crank, or just didn’t fire? That is what I can’t get my head around, is that the crank speed sounded normal. I guess the starter circuit pulled away enough amps from the ignition system to prevent it from firing? My mistake in troubleshooting was to change more than one variable at a time….

After the battery was replaced under warranty by the dealer, did you keep having the issue, or did it go away for about a year, then it's back now?
If the battery replacement addressed the no-start issue, then it's 100% the battery - just get the biggest (and highest CCA) AGM battery that can fit in the car and see if this deals with the issue.

Honda/Acura batteries are complete junk and I went through a few during warranty until I had enough and got an aftermarket one, never had an issue after that.

My '18 TLX A-Spec V6 AWD is still on its' first battery. A few things which may contribute this include that I disable auto-idle stop every time I start the car and I don't allow the lights to stay on after I turn the car off. I have also occasionally disconnected the battery and hooked it up to a battery charger/maintainer overnight simply because of the issues folks have claimed to have run into w/ their Acura batteries.
