Just ordered one
SO much concern around here about what other people drive and why, as well as what others will think of what we drive and how big it will make our d!ck appear. These are things to stop caring about after puberty.
Me neither. He may have misread and meant silver on black.
Either way, black on black looks sharp and i've never been a fan of black really. Throw black tints on it and it's a dirty lookin ride.
As for the conversation of BMW... buying for badge..."made it" ...
I currently work for GMC/Chev as a finance manager. While it is a career and a great position, i'm only 28 and don't see it as "made it" ...
But being able to afford a 45k car is not about being made it. I am buying an Acura cause ive only ever driven Acura... starting from an Integra...2 3g TLs...an MDX.. a tsx... and now a tlx.
And in 8 years owning all these cars. All were EXCELLENT reliability and the only thing i ever had to change were brakes and tires. Acura makes an excellent ride, and i don't suspect anything less of the TLX. And the TLX screams class, comfort, reliability.
My Acura came with 2 years free servicing. In that time I did 36000 kms and it needed just 2 services, each time I was well over 15% left on maintenance minder. So saved maybe $300. Now at 41000 kms and have 15% left till an A12. Will have probably changed car before the 0% is up. So I reckon $1000 is better.
I have an email in to my preferred salesman asking when they are expecting the SH-AWD Advance version. While I was at it, I asked when they are expecting the RLX sport hybrid. The reply should be good for laughs (at least the part about the RLX). Likely leaning toward a short-term TLX lease while I await what I really want, the RLX hybrid, to go through its teething pains.
I simply can't drive my precious, rare V wagon through another winter. After the last winter, I simply cannot punish it again like that.

I've always wondered why BMW owners aren't embarrassed when they pull up to a red light and 6 BMW's are already there.

Wonder if people get embarrassed having cars that are "exclusive" because they just don't sell very well or on the other hand a Honda guy when there are 10 Honda's at the light?
Really a point of view thing.

Nah, never get embarrassed over seeing other BMW's at the light, they are very common here.
Hard not to see a lot of them around when they sell 300,000+ cars a year.

Honda folks do not think of themselves as exclusive. I only see that with BMW owners, for some reason. I expect it is because many of the drivers are leasing as the only way they can drive one.. just an observation is all.
Congrats!!!
Also that seems really like a lie to be honest. Dealers have been able to order for some time already. And Acura has already allocated units to dealerships with arrival dates.
So your dealership is lying or has seriously been lazy on placing their order
I'm sorry, but I believe him. Besides why would he lie, I've already bought 2 cars from the dealer in the last 3 months and he and my salesman have known I've wanted this model of the TLX since I bought the MDX for my wife 3 months ago.
It has been said that the SH-AWD version will have very limited availability at launch.
Dealer should know what his allocations are & if he says October that it. Better him saying October than August just to make the sale then putting him off week by week till it comes in.
It's been stated in the past that SH-AWD versions will be manufactured/shipped after the initial batch of FWD versions. The rumors earlier was that there would be a 1-2 month gap at least between them, so they may not be lying.
I'm afraid this is somewhat incorrect. Dealers have cars on order, but have not "ordered" them. They have been allocated by Acura and we have no control at this point over drivetrain or color combinations. This is true for all of July and August production. I heard that the next allocation came through and there was still no choice for us, or AWD allocated.
Can't decide between an A3 2.0t Prestige or a TLX; the turbo engine in the A3 has so much headroom for more power...while the V6 in the TLX is probably tapped out. I'm leaning towards the A3 more for the moddability aspect...
Except to get all the features .. like LED lighting...passenger power seat (so stupid this is even an option) you have to spend upwards 50k most useless car ever. ive test driven one, priced one out.
Waste of money. 35k base u get nothing basically.
You're better off getting a loaded Jetta. basically same car as A4

An A3 Prestige 2.0T Quattro (top level trim) with Sport and Advance tech package is stickering at the same price as the TLX V6 SH-AWD. Thing is, for $700, you can chip the A3 and easily outrun 95% of the cars on the road. The A3 has been out for a while, and the big discounts have already started. A Jetta and an A3 are totally different; platforms are new now.
You agreed! with the post "Why do people make over-generalized, all encompassing but over-simplistic statements?" by immediately making an over-generalized, all-encompassing and overly-simplistic statement of your own.

Hahaha best 2 posts of the thread!

Probably no more than 10 or 15 year. You are correct, there isn't much demand for it considering our climate but also because SH AWD totally failed to capture most driving enthusiasts attention for dry weather use. However, I only mentioned it in my post to point out that dealers are not able to order these models yet, actually, we're not "ordering" anything as they are all being allocated by Acura at this point.

Question for those who have already placed TLX orders... What was the dealer experience like? If you had a trade in, did they offer a reasonable amount for it? Were you in a lease? I am a few months from the end of my TSX lease and thinking about reserving an i4 tech but am hesitant to place a deposit without seeing it in person and taking it for a test drive. When I talk to salespeople at local dealers about the Advantage incentive program, no one seems to have a clear idea on the procedure... i.e. how much $ must be put down (500, 1K, ?) and whether or not it can be applied to another vehicle or refunded completely if I change my mind upon vehicle delivery. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! And congratulations on your new cars!! :-)
I've had 2 experiences with Paragon in the past and they are the worst dealer I've ever had to work with. Just 3 weeks ago I tried to buy a '13 TL Advance from them and they totally botched the whole sale and ended up selling the car to someone else after I had committed to buying it. The salesman I dealt with was absolutely incompetent. Would not return e-mails, texts or phone calls. He lied to me and told me he didn't receive one of my e-mails, yet he referenced something I had only mentioned in the e-mail. Everyone I've ever talked with there seemed shady. I'm not surprised you had a poor experience also.
