I drove a TLX today

I went to go pick up my car today and asked about the TLX, they had three in. All 3 were the v6 FWD with tech, one with advance. It was tighter inside than my TL but had smooth ride. The looks are pretty unnoticeable and it's just like the rlx inside

I have no interest in it, the dealer was trying to push me into one and saying they could give me a great deal since they had my car since May 27th. By the way my car is going to go back, they didn't even do the doors, but told me they did. I'm on a itchy schedule today and was more worried about the moldings that weren't in place correctly.

Agree.

The interior and dashboard layouts are virtually identical between the RLX, the 2014 MDX, and the TLX.

wow.. sounds like the shop that the car went to is giving you the fucken run around..

then again, i made it a point that i didnt want to come back to the shop for issues so the lady that helped me out made it a note that it had to be perfect. The acura rep told the shop as well, i was standing right there next to them when they had that conversation.

The Acura rep has been in constant contact with them as well as the service manager. The manager went down there twice a week, himself at least he says so. I did talk to him once while he was there. The shop is over an hour away and I don't have 2-3 hours of free time to go down there once a week. Not with my current work hours. " I have a bridge to build".
The part I don't get is the shop sent the car back in mod July and said the doors were done, but the dealer sent it back and said you missed the quarter panels. So it went back for that, but the doors were untouched. I'm at the point I'm ready to sell the Acura and move on away from the Honda/Acura brand all together for some else all together. Maybe a slightly used CTS-V.

Also the seat in the TLX in the rear are extremely tight when I had the divers seat where I needed it. The salesman said they didn't expect it to be that tight and the car is closer to the 3G in size. It was really tight feeling inside that car.

Sounds like keeping my 4G TL would be the great option in near future

I'd hold judgement until I drive one but reviewers stated the better driver is the I4, I'd like to see the acceleration numbers.

No current AWD option, right? I elected to take a 2014 4G at highway robbery rather than wait for the marketing team to get their heads out of their asses when they decided to release the half ass TLX versions.

I think I'm with you on that move (at least until they decide they want to sell them significantly under MSRP). My 10/Tech is tried, proven and with less than 30k miles.

That's funny because the advance package V6 with out AWD was 44k and change. The dealer said with AWD, it would be roughly 47k, the techs were 40k and change.

sounds like they are adding on some bullshit market adjustment charge or something.

Plus the destination charge is $895 which isn't included in teh pricing I linked until you click on the model you want. The SH-AWD Advance package is $45,595 before adding accessories.

I'm confused. I keep seeing people saying the TLX is smaller inside than the 4G, but the official reports seem to say Acura shortened the car by 4" without compromising interior space.

So is it smaller in interior volume or not?

^Unfortunately they lied about that and rear leg room is compromised, but is still not that bad. You have to see it in person.
At least you can put your feet under front seat not like 4G TL...

Reviews don't seem to have a gripe about the interior size of the TLX. The only people who have complaints about the TLX interior are 4G TL owners, which is their right, but could be clouded in their desire to defend their purchase.

The tale of the tape says the TLX is smaller in the back. Same with interior volume overall. However, this doesn't always tell the whole story. I recall people asking why the Pilot had more cu.ft of interior space than the MDX. They're almost identical in all dimensions. Talking somebody at Acura, they claimed that the difference was in the rear roofline and back window. The Pilot being very square vs. the tapered MDX, it carved out a few more inches in the back glass area that added up to several cu.ft. Was it significantly more usable space? Not really but it looked good on paper compared to the Highlander of the day.

Same with the S2000. You could have to 6 footers and one would find it impossible to drive and the other fits comfortably. It all depended if you were long legged or tall in the torso. Since the TLX is actually smaller than 4G TL, the difference in the body type you're placing back there might be the critical difference.

I'm 6'3" and got to sit in one today. I was comfortable in the front seat and then sat in the back and was completely fine. It's not as big as the RLX but it's not supposed to be. It was as expected for the class of car the TLX is in.

Looks like the first builds were all FWD V6s. I thought the car looked great and the interior was just as good as my parents Lexus in terms of materials and build quality.

There is definitely a difference, it's a narrower car as well. No defending of my 4G, since I really don't care for it. The features that Honda are just now starting to add to Acura have been available in Ford pick up trucks since 2011. Let that sink in, a pickup has more advance technology than a luxury car. A pickup that is three years older!

I'm 6'3" and couldn't sit behind the drivers seat, when I left it where I needed it. I don't sit leaned back at all and mostly straight up.

The F-150 Limited starts at over $50k. Fully optioned Ford F-150 or GMC Sierra pickups can get close to $70k. It wouldn't surprise me if Ford pickups had more options than a $30k-something car, even three years back. Those trucks are pretty much luxury as well.

I keep telling everyone that this car is a lot like the 3G TL in size. Glad others agree. The 3G was a good size for me.

I'm currently in a 3G and it is a perfect size for me. I personally would not want a car any bigger. I'm very glad to hear that the size is comparable and looking very forward to picking up the TLX.
