Any Issues with Replacement ZF9?

I will be replacing my ZF9 in a week. 33k. Wondering if those who replaced their ZF9's have had problems with the replacement? How is the ZF9 working out in the 2019's?

Thanks

For the few that had their transmissions replaced, haven't heard any problems.

Out of curiosity, how long of a battle did you put up before getting your transmission replaced?

One visit with supporting video and a demonstration to a technician. It was obvious there was an issue. My description was precise with examples. They replaced the cooler and to perform tests and knew they probably hadn’t cured the issue. One trip around the block was all and the dealer did the rest.

What issues did you run into?

I've taken it up to Acura Client Relations and they have yet to get back to me about a followup. No dealership could replicate my complaint, but a few times I've been driving and if you could imagine someone dumping the clutch in a manual car. It happens rarely, but it's happened. I also complained about some rough shifts 1-4.

My dealer apparently forgot to resynch the active engine mounts after replacing the ZF, which apparently is part of (or became part of) the procedure. What it felt like was the car was lugging in too high a gear. The mechanic at the dealership spent the better part of a day on the phone with Techline but they got it straightened out, now the car is great and the new ZF is vastly superior.

Good to know. I will pass that along.

My replacement ZF9 is about 9 months and 10k old now. It definitely cured the hard 1-2-3 shifting and generally wonky behavior of my original ZF9. It made my car tolerable in the low gears, city diving and in traffic. But my new one still does some strange stuff like riding the torque converter, late upshifts and downshifts, revving while coasting downhill and gear hunting. I haven’t had the 3-4 clicking or that TSB about the explosion of dash board lights since replacement. I guess I would say no problems with my new one regarding reliability per se - the ZF9 is just a generally bad transmission with almost universal dissatisfaction from ‘15 through ‘20 TLX owners plus thousands of Chrysler and Odyssey owners who have the ZF9. You end up getting used to how bad it is. I hope it stands the test of time as far as quality and reliability go.

I've had mine replaced 14 months ago and I'm still experiencing many issues with it. I'm still experiencing vibrations such as Someguy11 ("still does some strange stuff like riding the torque converter, late upshifts and downshifts, revving while coasting downhill and gear hunting") but I've also experience many other issues such as the car engine stopped at an Stop sign with transmission automatically switched on neutral, or different sensors such as lane detector or ACC (cruise) don't work unless I restart the engine. I've also lost my IDS capabilities (looks like they merged the Econ, Normal and Sport IDS modes; they are all operating the same way now, but it wasn't like that initially (read other post on Custom IDS Settings? forum). After receiving a legal notice, Honda sent a dude to my dealership: he felt the vibrations and mesured them with an MTS4100 NVH kit, and inspected the car, but they haven't gave my lawyer any feedback in more then 4 months and I'm now suing them.

FYI, disregard the part about IDS modes, since I just updated the Custom IDS Settings? forum with new information. That said, many things aren't fixed since I'm still getting transmission error codes such as P2638 (torque management issue) despite tranny was changed, and the steering wheel and car seats still vibrates (E-1,5 vibration type, results provided by a PicoScope NVH analyser) when VCM kicks in and V6 turns into a 3 cylinder engine.
