TPMS Light & Squealing under hood

I know these are two completely different issues but they both happened at the same time on my 2012 TL 3.5 w/tech pkg.

I was turning a corner and went through what I thought was snow blown from a field but I think it was a slushy puddle from a nearby water line that was broken. I was in a school zone and driving slow to go through the slick spots on the road, so the splash wasn't that big. Almost instantly, the TPMS light started flashing and the screen read "--" for each wheel. I got to a stop sign and turned the car off, hoping to reset an ice covered sensor. Turned the car on and it started "whining" like a steering pump going bad (the TPMS light still flashed and didn't reset). So I drove to my destination. The whining noise getting louder and quieter. Left the car running and came back out and the noise was basically gone. Now, weeks later it's just making a faint noise and the TPMS light is still on.

I've read a few places with similar noises that it's the alternator or tensioner pulley but nothing is lining up perfectly. I just want to get an idea to tell the mechanic about the issue before I spend big $ on diagnosing a problem and not repairing the correct problem.

Thanks for any help!
