Ghost puddle lights problem/electrical issue maybe??
So I purchaces these Acura projector ghost light sfor my 2 front doors.
Amazon.com: XtremeŽ 5w 4th Generation 2x LED Car Door Laser Projector Ghost Shadow Step Light Logo for Acura: Automotive
Last night I started the install. I decided to cut the current wires to the factory door light and just connect the two wires to the ghost lights since I wont be using the factory lights anymore.
After the drivers side ghost light was installed it worked for like 2 minutes then went out. I decided to test the passenger side which still worked, installed the ghost light into the passenger door and again, it worked for 2 minutes then nothing.
I then reattached the factory lights and now those dont turn on????
I thought maybe a fuse, but wouldnt all of the interior llights go out? I thought one fuse ran through all of the interior lights. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you use the original wires from the puddle light? IIRC the ground comes from the MICU and does not have enough power for the LED lights, highly likely that you damaged the MICU. I am no expert so someone else with more knowledge can chime in. I have read of other causing the same damage.
I did the lighted door sills on my car and used a constant + from the battery and the floating ground from the door pin switches.

this happen to a fellow member... he had to bring his car back to the dealer to replace an entire fuse box because there was no way to get the light to work again. fusebox was damaged somehow per dealer.. it was covered under warranty.
best of luck.. next time.. disconnect the battery before you do anything.. although its not required.. its preferred..

KarKraze, can you let me know wher exactly you ran you pos and neg wires.you said you used a constant + from the battery and the floating ground from the door pin switches. Did you run two seperate wires straight to the battery? And where can I find the Door pin switch?
Maybe I can go your route since the only thing not working is the OEM door lights ( which I was going to disconnect anyway). If I dont have to replace the MICU I wont. But I did see it was available online for around $140.00 US dollars.
Thanks again guys. Looks like it was a dumb mistake.

I have an aftermarket amp which feeds + directly from the battery. I tapped in to that for the constant positive.
The door pin switches are on the door column (small black rubber covered switch on the car body) it has a floating ground, meaning that the circuit is completed when the door is open only. It is screwed in with two bolts / screws, open them and trace the wire to see the colour. Make sure you use a tester , as you depress and release the pin switch you will see your tester light go on or off.
Before making any final connection disconnect your battery.

I emailed Amazon and told them the the directions to install these ghost lights on our vehicle were incorrect. Left it in their feedback. Here's what I got back.

Your feedback comment:
Purchase these light already, thought I messed up the first pair so I ordered another (which I cancelled) But upon further inspection these lights will not work on the Acura TL as advertised. The current/ground supplied to the door bulbs is not enought power for the LED and will result in a blown MICU which will end up costing you hundreds to replace. Will end up wiring a different way.
Reason for removal:
Feedback submitted was a product review and not related to seller.

this also happened to me when i was replacing my bulbs with oem recommended replacements... members said check the wiring, check the fuse, do a electrical test.. nothing work and no one has came up with a real service solution unless we take it to the dealer and pay for the service, hopefully someone can come up with something so that we can all reference this fix. Quite a few members have experience this problem.
Yep,that is what happened, you are good with what you did now. Happy to hear that you like the new puddle lights
well, i lost my puddle lights and anything else that is triggered from the door being open. doenst show that the door is open on the cluster, dome lights dont come on, and worst is the alarm doesnt see the door is open. i mainly am concerned about the alarm not being triggered if the door is open. is there a bypass that i can do for just the alarm trigger? what actually need to be replaced to ficx this? oh, also the window down feature that you can use the remote to initiate doesnt work either

first thing to do is check all fuses To see if any are blown
