Door panel creak...

how hard is it to take off the door panel?? i need to get behind it to see if i can fix a creak that comes from where you would put your arm if you had the window down while driving...if you push on the trim right above the aluminum piece where the window goes inside the door it creaks...is there a way to fix that....

maybe someone can help me out with some pics

thanks
vinnie

good point. Some of us (me), need to turn down the stereo and start fixing this stuff while it is still covered under our warrantee.

yep, my drivers side does it and my passenger side doesnt...i assume if you take off the door panel you can pad it up behind there, but thats why i am asking the question, otherwise i will just have to get busy on it some day and find out for myself...

It is happening from always resting your arm.. After having there, repeatedly, all the time in the same area, it is probably getting worn, just like a creaky step on a staircase! Same thing happened to me on my TL and when I used to own my 2006 Lexus GS.

I noticed the same issue on mine after buying it in July. One of those little things that for a car in this price range I find a little unacceptable. You can make it creak by pushing on the door panel toward the top. I tried a couple of other 4G TL's and they do the same. I have no reason to take the panel off yet, but if I ever do, I'll be looking into a fix. It's minor but annoying.

I just happened upon this thread. After fighting with the dealership a couple years ago, they finally resolved the problem by apparently putting some sort of fabric or foam between the door panel and the door itself. No creaking since then, and it makes the car feel a bit better.

For you owners with "creaks" or "rattles" in the doors try buying some Shin-Etsu grease at the Honda or Acura dealer. My '10 was starting to get some of these, mostly in hotter weather, and it was getting to the point of annoying.

I bought a tube of the magic stuff (don't even want to know what's in it - use rubber gloves) and after cleaning all the door weatherstripping and the adjacent body panels it contacted with the door closed, I applied a very thin layer of Shin-Etsu to all the weather stripping on all 4 doors.

Result: it's been abnormally hot here all week - prime rattle weather - and I've heard nary a peep, even on rough streets with the audio turned way down. It may even have made the car a tick quieter on the highway too. Now my car sounds nice and vault-like again, just as it did when it was new.

Try the stuff. I think you'll be amazed.

There are videos in some other threads in the audio section on here, and also on youtube, about how to remove door panels.
