the most annoying thing about the TL

for me is how far the door and panel is from my left leg/foot.

i like to lean my knee against the door panel/ handle of the car when driving and this generation TL body is so wide that it prevents me from doing that.

now i have to get used to extending my left leg (to where its straight) down by the pedals

I agree with this 100%. I just use the SUV if I need to grab anything large...so the TL is back to being perfect!

Just got my "new" used 2012 TL and found this forum on searching. So here is my very first post.

I come from Honda CRV and my biggest annoying thing with my new TL is getting in and out of car is much difficult than in comparison of my Honda CRV. Also, outside visibility is not as good either. This could be due to TL being a sedan though.

I have been liking my new TL though.

I regularly go between my RDX and the wife's TL, and find both of your observations to be true (the RDX is based on the CRV chassis so somewhat similar). But it's an apples-to-oranges comparison since they're completely different vehicle types. And that's the reason I went with an RDX instead of a sedan (or even a CPO TSX wagon).

For our family, the RDX is a much friendlier vehicle - more room, easier egress and better visibility. And while the wife LOVES to drive her TL, she prefers to be a passenger in the RDX for that very reason - more comfortable.

they both do their job very well - but are very different.

Same here - would have loved folding seats.

I came from a VW Passat and am getting used to the lower stance of the car. Getting in and out is definitely a bit more difficult for me (am 6' and on the heavy side) but I have come to love the stance and ride.

folding seats and the drivers left arm rest is a little too far away. Tough to complain that the car is too spacious...

Yes, I too find both armrests bit too far away from my elbows, especially the right elbow. I wish I would keep my right elbow on that nice padded console, while driving. BTW....I am around 5'6" tall. As I mentioned earlier, I come from Honda CRV and right armrest is so much convenient in that car.

Only complaint is that the trunk in SH AWD is on the smaller side, sometimes not sufficient for a weekly Costco trip.

My only complain with the TL is the cabin noise. Wish it was a bit quieter.

My only complaint is the lack of cooled or vented seats. My nuts would thoroughly enjoy that feature!

The only use the heated seats get is keeping my takeout orders warm until I'm home.

Thanks for the great idea. I will use them next time I carry out Pizza :-).
BTW...here in New England I will be using these almost every day.

Actually my 13 advance has ventilated seats in front, one of the reasons I chose it over g37. Living in Houston, this feature is a necessity.

Yeah, I forgot about that. It wasn't an option on the 2009-2011 models.

honestly, if I had vented seats, I think my biggest complaint would be lack of schwetty ballz.

Haha, that would be pretty odd...having balls that are bone dry.

When I first bought the TL one of my complaints was the lack of rear folding seats. However, a customer subwoofer box (that would block the access anyway) and two car seats later and I wouldn't be able to use them. Fortunately my wife's Ody more than makes up for the lack of storage capacity in the TL.

I'd think chilled balls are better than dry ones but you never know...there could be different opinions out there on the Internet...

My wife will NEVER have a minivan, I've been warned.
I agree, actually now that you mention it, I can't get to the pass through anyway with my 12's.

You know something funny, I find myself turning the gain WAY down when I'm in the car anyway...I should probably downgrade at some point.

My wife actually said the same thing...then she got pregnant with #2 and had a change of heart. She randomly brought it up one day and I jumped on it. The next weekend we got her out of her Pilot and into the Ody. Our decision is confirmed as the right one pretty regularly!

I don't turn my levels way down but I definitely don't listen to it like I have in previous cars. I keep the bass on +1 and the sub on +2 which I've found to be perfect. If I'm using bluetooth audio from my phone I sometimes have to play with the phone volume so it isn't too much. Also, if my daughters are in the car though the sub goes to -4.

I love minivans...they can be quite cool!

I have 2 old school audiobahn's rated at 1100 rms each and an old school mb quart Q amp pushing 1500 watts rms at 1 ohm...

I'm getting old, I listen to it with the gain knob at like 15%

Haha, damn...no wonder you keep it low! I'm only rocking one 12" JL Audio W3 with a single channel Alpine amp (prob @ 400 watts RMS)...which is probably why I can handle it at the level I listen to.

On a side note, it's crazy how much cheaper audio systems are nowadays. I helped my nephew pick his out recently and he went with a Rockford Fosgate/Alpine combo and it was the same price I paid 20 years ago for no name brands that sounded like shit in comparison. Gotta love the internet, particularly Amazon!

amazon...bruh...hit up that sonixelectronix!
Yeah, no doubt, man...it's a funny story but basically circuit city done fucked up and then let me keep the extra sub...

every once in a while I put in just one sub...but inevitably Journey into Bass or anything Britney Spears will come on and I'll miss the added bass.

Try South Florida...
If I were to jar my ball sweat (again)
I could fill mason jars, cap to bottom, and stack them from here to Uranus!

Anyone complaining about cabin noise have it pretty good in my opinion. The TL is much quieter than most other cars in its class, and certainly more quiet than any sports car I've ever driven. Of course, those Michelin tires they put on them are very quiet as well which helps a lot. If you're having cabin noise issues, it may be due to your tires.

Lack of rain sensing wipers.
Lack of one touch turn blinkers.
Lack of power folding mirrors.
And MID not interfacing with the HFL is ridiculous too.

When cleaning my interior over the weekend I was reminded of a minor annoyance with the TL. I don't like how the rear mats have the anchor in the front. It makes no sense because when people get in the car the rugs naturally want to slide forward. Mine constantly have a hump in them because the rear slides forward but the anchor in the front keeps it from moving.
